Binocular primed for winning return in Fighting Fifth

The top class Binocular is a very confident choice to land Newcastle's Saturday feature, the Stan James Fighting Fifth hurdle.
This Grade 1 contest worth £104,000 in prize money has only attracted a rather disappointing field of five, with the ground expected to ride on the fast side of good. However quality is not in short supply, and the race seems sure to be run at a blistering gallop from flagfall.
Binocular was the impressive 2010 Champion Hurdle winner and took last season's Christmas Hurdle before suffering a rather disappointing Spring. He is the class act in this field and can swoop late as his two rivals seem set to ruin each other at the head of affairs.
0verturn is a high class frontrunner who is one of the leading dual-purpose types around. He made a sound return to hurdling when taking a useful Ascot Grade 2 last week (left clear at last but sure to have gone close anyway).
Celestial Halo is another who seems best when dominating and was a fortunate winner at Wincanton first time out, when Grandoeut cruised up to pass him only to fall at the first hurdle in the straight. That form has been advertised since but he will find this sharp test all against him and seems set to claim third.
In summary, athough Binocuar has been beaten at odds-on in both recent runnings of this contest, he has the perfect targets to aim at today and is reported in rude health at home after 203 days away from the course. With AP McCoy in the saddle he is well worth a maximum investment at around 4-5 this morning.
