Frascati can continue progression at Ascot

Frascati Park has proved a revelation since being switched to the larger obstacles, and he can land his most prestigious prize to date at Ascot this afternoon.
The 7-y-o won both his starts on soft ground at Carlisle, really impressing with bold frontrunning displays against useful rivals, and he can soon have some more hyped up rivals on the stretch if setting his usual strong tempo under the promising Sam Twiston Davies.
The £30000 prize money has attracted a decent field, with perhaps the unbeaten Chablais the main danger. He was sent off a warm odds-on favourite for his chasing debut last month, and was left with a very simple task when his main market rival fell early on. However his jumping was not without flaws, diving out to the left several times, and he will need to be a lot straighter this time.
Champion trainer Paul Nicholls runs 4-y-o Pacha du Polder who made a winning debut on these shores when narrowly landing a "match" at Sandown at the start of November. The bare form of that win amounts to little and he appears priced on connections rather than what he has shown so far.
Michael Flips stepped forward at this course and distance when landing a modest contest last time out, but this seeems a huge step up in grade, while the formerly useful Zaynar has been tapped for pace at the minimum trip since sent chasing and may need three miles to feature at this level.
In summary, a wide open clash between some unexposed and highly touted novices, but a great chance for the tough frontrunner Frascati Park to lead all the way. His fine fencing is a major asset and at around 4-1 this morning he represents the value call.
