Epee Celeste to be rewarded for consistency

Epee Celeste has run with credit in the past few months and can gain reward for those efforts by landing the Totetrifecta Handicap Chase at Hereford.
The 5-y-o has been more convincing when twice placed in handicap chases over shorter trips, and gave the impression a step up to 3m1f would suit him when third in a competitive contest at Towcester last time. He gets weight from some largely modest rivals today and must go well under the promising Sam Twiston-Davies.
Main danger for the £4000 prize money comes from 10-y-o Sea Saffron. He secured a first success for this stable when scoring over fences at Wincanton in February and was not disgraced when third over hurdles on last month's reappearance. He is entitled to strip fitter for that pipeopener and will revel in the testing conditions.
Victor Dartnall has his yard in great form and any cash for his Dancing Mist later would be a huge clue that he is fit and well after 606 days away from the course. He ran his best race of a rather chequered chasing career when runner-up in a 3m6f Exeter handicap in April 2010 and is very well treated if ready to roll on this belated return.
Western Whisky is usually thereabouts when keeping the errors down, but once again paid the price for a trademark mistake when unseating over this course and distance last month and others appear less risky.
In summary, a wide open handicap but Epee Celeste seems sure to be suited by this stiffer test and is worth an each-way interest at around 6-1 this morning.
