The Red Bull car has claimed the top prizes already in both the drivers and construction championship. Now that race has turned to Japan, Sebastian Vettel is looking to make this circuit his with a third straight year win in Sukuza.
Japanese Grand Prix 2011
The Suzuka circuit is next in line and much of the excitement is fizzing out as Sebastian Vettel is nearing the mark of certainty where he can claim yet another F1 Drivers’ Championship, the 2011 season. A near podium finish should be good enough to secure his second consecutive championship at only 23. The race will take place from the 7th of October and race day is set on 9th of October 2011.
The race circuit is 5.807km with the race distance at 307.471km. All drivers’ will need to complete 53 laps to be crowned as champion of the circuit and Kimi Raikkonen who holds the record of the lap time of 1:31.540 still stands since 2005. Sebastian Vettel won this race back in 2009 and 2010 and what’s going to stop him from collecting yet another maximum points in the 2011 edition.
Third Time Good
Energy and momentum should find the better of the Suzuka circuit and many of the cars are well suited for this race to give us a fast race going past each and every corner. There is no doubt one name will be ringing bell around this circuit, the young German, Sebastian Vettel who will surely have the intention of winning the race in fashion, just like in 2009 and 2010. His car is so superior compare to the others, the only way of him not winning this circuit is if he has a poor day.
The number spot place is very much rapped up and settled (also the constructor championship), therefore we’ll have to concentrate on the rest of the podium scramble. The rest of the field consists of of Jensen Button, Mark Webber, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso. What we can take out of the equation quickly is Lewis Hamilton as he hasn’t really been able to muster a challenge this season or consistent performance to score points. A damaged front wing and drive through penalty didn’t help Hamilton in Singapore.
The battle for the second and third spots is virtually in the hands of Red Bull Mark Webber, Ferrari Fernando Alonso and McLaren Jensen Button. All three drivers are very much up for giving each other a fight to the end of the season to see who can occupy the spot beneath Vettel. On the long run, Webber should have the better chances and that is all due to the car he is driving in, as circumstances favour him when it concerns speed and pace, even pit stops are quick among the Red Bull garage. Both Alonso and Button are consistently driving well but not enough to win any grand prix. They will be hanging tough and try to improve their driving and push their car to the maximum.
News:
The Mercedes are undergoing plans to improve their cars for next year already now for Japan GP. The Mercedes with Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher in the driving seats haven’t been able fortunate enough to win a GP this season and the reason is definitely on the lack of speed and pace in the Mercedes cars. Most of the time, both drivers are defending their positions against Ferrari and McLarens, never mind the Red Bull cars who are outpaced in every sector. Two new engineers coming onboard the Mercedes team and surely something will change before the new season starts.
Verdict:
The Japanese GP might not have the same hype of the last season but a race is still to be won and Vettel will surely not pass the opportunity over for another to taste glory. By now, it’s no secret that the Red Bull Vettel car is dominated at the qualifying and race stages, so favorites on Vettel yet again. So who will follow the Red Bull car, teammate Webber might have a good shot but McLarens are notoriously slow here and Hamilton prone to errors and reckless, he’s out of the picture. That leaves Alonso and Button to tough it out and one of them will get the podium. My money is on Jensen Button to do so.
