Vettel win

Aiming to be Number One in Singapore and secure the F1 Championship 2011 at the same time, Sebastian Vettel will find a way to secure his second straight title with only six races to go. The rest of the group will have to fight for second place and that will involve Webber, Alonso, Hamilton and Button.

Formula 1 - Singapore Grand Prix

The one and only night race of the F1 season might see the crowning of the new F1 Champion in the Far East. Reigning champion, Sebastian Vettel is set to make his Singapore appearance with much anticipation to finish off the season in style. The others will have to play second fiddle when the Singtel Singapore grand prix is held from the 23rd of September to race day on 25th of September.

The race circuit is 5.073km with the race distance at 309.316km. All drivers’ will need to complete 61 laps to be crowned as champion of the circuit and Kimi Raikkonen holds the record with a lap time of 1:45.599 which has stood since 2008. Fernando Alonso will return to defend his winning ways of 2010, but of course with a lot of headlines regarding team cheating.

Winning is Everything

The young German is about to secure his second consecutive F1 championship and with a win in Singapore, things could be settled as there are six races to go until the end of the season. His impetuous driving in Spa found him at pole and on the podium which really shows how his season has transpired. There will be no excuse for Vettel in search of his 9th win this season. His teammate, Mark Webber has already conceded the title chase and with him crashing out in Spa, there is nothing more to do than trying to make a Red Bull 1-2 and win the Construction Drivers’ Championship.

The ones left to fight for the second place are McLarens and Ferrari, Fernando Alonso, in particular. Although of all of the drivers, only Lewis Hamilton is yet to concede the title to Vettel yet. The 2008 F1 Champion believes that there is still a fight before things are settled for sure and with that frame of mind, Singapore will be a battle ground, since he was held back in Spa by Michael Schumacher. His McLaren teammate Jensen Button isn’t going to dream about the top spot, he knows that second place is a realistic the target and that he also took in Spa, pragmatic approach. That leaves Alonso in the same position and also a similar philosophy as Button, the first place is lost and concentrating on the second spot in the drivers’ championship would be a better option.

Mercedes needs a bit more work on the car if they want to compete with the top three cars. In Spa, Michael Schumacher had to pull out his best in defending his position over Lewis Hamilton, once again the experienced German was close in getting a call from the stewarts, after preventing Hamilton to overtake with his two move approach of defending. Hopefully he has learnt from the close shaves and will not pull another stunt that can land him in trouble.

Prediction:

Not much of a prediction when Vettel is likely once again to take pole position and lead from lap 1. The rest will be up to the car and see where Vettel can go from there. It's likely that the race will be a good one as the night track does involve a few incidents along the way. Alonso has dominated this track for two years in a row and there shouldn't be any doubts that he can do it again. It could yet be a race between Vettel and Alonso, and for that, let's go for a punt on Alonso, but the favourite is Vettel.
