Djokovic Paris

Novak Djokovic has come to an end of the season with a record to improve on, a seventh title of the ATP Masters 1000 in Paris. He will be challenged by Roger Federer and Andy Murray, although one thing is true, only one man is winning all the top prizes.

BNP Paribas Masters

Here we go, the last one on the ATP tennis calendar and this might be a bit of a disappointment for a few fans, if you are expecting a superstar tennis line up. First of all, Spaniard Rafael Nadal has pulled out of the Paris Masters due to a injury. Adding worries to the lineup, British Andy Murray is racing against time to be fit for this event. He suffered from a right gluteal muscle strain in the Swiss Indoors in Basle.

Back to the ones that will be competing, first on the list is Swiss star Roger Federer that is called upon as the favorite. He beat Japan’s Kei Nishikori in the Swiss Indoor final on home soil and collecting his second title this year. The 16th Grand Slam champion must feel a bit more confident and eyeing for more title that is on offer. Federer has not won in Paris in nine attempts so the statistic is against him.

Next in line to go shoulder to shoulder with Federer is 2011 Tennis man of the year, Novak Djokovic. He suffered only his fourth defeat of the year in the Swiss Indoor, Basel to Kei Nishikori. Djokovic received shoulder treatment during the game so it is hard to say whether he will be ready in time or even fit to take part of the ATP Masters 1000 in bid for his seventh title, a record.

Besides a chance to win the last ATP Masters 1000, there is still three spaces on offer for the Barcleys ATP World Tour Finals and Tomas Berdych, Jo-Wilfred Tsonga and Mardy Fish will be giving their all to do well in Paris. Both Tomas Berdych and Jo-Wilfred Tsonga are past champions here while Mardy Fish will try to get past the last 32 for the first time.

Verdict

All eyes are on the resurging Roger Federer to pull out his fighting spirits and end this season on a high. Both in Paris and in London, however these two wins won’t surpass Novak Djokovic in the ATp ranking list. The Serbian might have taken his toll with fatigure and as the season is coming to an end, there is certainly one thing on his mind, more titles. A showdown between the two is likely and not if Andy Murray can take part too. If he can get himself fit then he might be in for a shout after getting some good rest before heading over to Paris. However if there was one man to beat, yet again, then his name is still Novak Djokovic.
