American Idol Top 6

The battle continues for the remaining American Idol Top 6 contestants. Singing Lady Gaga’s song last week, we saw one of the judges favourites Colton Dixon received the least vote from the public. The judges could not save the 20-year-old any longer as their one and only “save” vote were used for Jessica two weeks ago. Only if he is still in the show, he could have rocked the show as it was the Queen’s night and this is Colton’s forte. But nonetheless, it was down to the two gentleman and four ladies to show their exceptional talent on the stage.

The remaining 6 powerhouse American Idolettes battled it out as they perform the greatest hits from the legendary rock band sensation Queen. Jessica Sanchez, Phillip Phillips, Joshua Ladet, Skylar Laine, Holly Cavanag and Elise Testone each sang two songs and as always, they were mentored by none other than Jimmy Iovine. Giving all their best, they are hoping that their performances of the night were enough to win the heart of the public get going and remain in the show to be to be crowned the American Idol 2012 winner in just few weeks time.

Queen and King on the Stage

Speeding up through the lane, Jessica Sanchez rammed the stage with her rendition of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody and Vandross’ “Dance With My Father”. Although rock is not her forte she gave a very strong performance and made it work for her as she sings the Queen song. With her second performance, she nailed the ballad song and captured the three judges’ attention and noted that it was her best performance of the night.

Sailing through the night with flying colours was Joshua Ladet. Singing “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, the 19-year-old set up the stage with fire, earning himself his first standing ovation of the night from the three American Idol judges. Doing another powerhouse performance again on his second shot with “Ready For Love”, this teenager from LA took his performance on the stage to a higher lever, the judges was so impress and left speechless. His display of talent has then earn himself yet another standing ovation for the evening.

Second In Line

Skylar Laine rocked the stage with her version of “The Show Must Go On”, receiving love from the judges, pointing out that it was one of the best performance of the season. Despite this, the 18-year-old country girl from Mississippi received a loveless comment from Steven Tyler with her version of  Jason Aldean’s “Tattoos on this Town”. Tyler did not agreed with his two fellow judges and thinks that this wasn’t a fine manoeuvre for Skylar as it lacks flair.

Phillip Phillips gave a unique twist with his rendition of “Flat Bottomed Girls” which all judges like it. Having been compared to Dave Matthews, the 21-year-old finally sang one of his songs. Picking a less popular song of Dave, he opted to sing “The Stone”. Rather than receiving a good review from Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler, Phillip from Leesburg received more of an advice instead to choose a more popular song if he wanted to be crowned the winner of the American Idol 2012.

Still Surviving

Colton Dixon might not have survive for breaking the cardinal rule of not talking back and showing humility despite what the American Idol judges said, Elise Testone dodge the bullet last week for doing so. Singing “I Want It all” and Jimi Hendrix’s “Bold as Love”, the 29-year-old contestant once again received a mixed message from all three judges. They love her interpretation of Queen’s song but they thought her second song did not give a strong impression compared to her first.

Last to sing the second song was Hollie. Like Elise, she was in the bottom three once again last week despite making improvements on the stage. Struggling week after week but surviving week after week, she ironically sang Queen’s  “Save Me” for his first song and Miley Cyrus “ The Climb”. Liverpool fan Idolette Hollie Cavanagh did not get to rock the stage with her initial song but she climb as she closed the show. Stepping up, the judges were up on their feet.

Colton Dixon received a cold reception from the three judging panel last week and did not survive for another week. Although Phillip Phillips got the same with his second song, this would not be the case for Phillip. Jessica might be the Queen of the Night but loaded with female followers, Phillip is still the King of the Night in their eyes. With Elise Testone showing depletion on her confidence, we might see her once again in the bottom three with Hollie Cavanagh and maybe Joshua Ladet as JLo did not plea to the public not to send him home this week.
