The X-Factor is back! Except for Louis Walsh, it will kick off with a new set of judges in hope of bringing a new dynamic and fresh appeal to the show. On its 8th series, the show will be live starting this Saturday, 20th August 2011 on ITV1. Talented and wannabe singers will be auditioning to win the judges votes.

In last year’s series, the drama and controversy was intense. Katie Waissel, who not only brought a double helping of drama and controversy to the show was hated by the public. On the contrary, the sensational Wagner Carrilho who was loved by the public and had a spat with former judge Cheryl Cole when he commented on her about growing up in a council estate, lasted for so long in the show despite his lack of abilty to sing a proper song. Anyhow, putting these aside, it was a deserving win for Dannii Minogue's act when Matthew Sheridan "Matt" Cardle beat Rebecca Ferguson and One Direction in the final show.
There will be once again four betting categories this year, Boys (11/8), Girls (13/8), Over 25s (7/2) and Group (6/1). For the past seven years of X-Factor, Over 25s and the Girls categories had won once, where Steve Brookstein won in the first series and Alex Burke in the sixth series. Only twice has it been won by girl, Leona Lewis and Burke and most of the winners were male contestant, five out of 7. The Group category has never won the singing contest. Perhaps, this year will be the year for the group.

Replacing Cheryl Cole, Dannii Minogue and Simon Cowell will be former Destiny Child singer Kelly Rowland, hip-hop star who rose to fame in rap group N_Dubz Tulisa Contostavlos and Take That singer and songwriter Gary Barlow. With these three judges, the one who has the biggest shoes to fill is Gary Barlow as he is brought in to lead the judging panel. It is tipped that the X Factor series 8 will be bigger and better but without Simon this is yet to be seen.
