Today's Stat of the Day

Date Stat
20th June 2013 John Gosden is the only one of the major trainers to show a level stake profit with his runners at Ascot (up £10.53 at SP from backing all 381 lifetime runners here). He has trained 54 winners and earnt over £5m in prize money during this time, and his "in the frame" strike rate of 39% is exceptional given the fiercely competitive nature of the racing. In the Tercentary Stakes at 5.00 he runs the very progressive Remote, who looked a star of the future when sluicing home in a Doncaster handicap last time out, and is all the rage in the early exchanges to follow-up.
19th June 2013 Richard Hughes endured a frustrating day yesterday at Royal Ascot, but his career record shows him to be at the top of the jockeys table. He has ridden 72 winners here from 623 attempts, earning £3.7m in prize money for connections and can boast an "in the frame" strike rate of 42%. In the Queen Mary at 5.00 this afternoon, he has critically chosen Oriel over her stablemates, and this promising filly looks sure to go very close after enduring an expensive and unlucky defeat at Newbury last time out.
18th June 2013 Mark Johnston tops the trainers table at Ascot, with 82 lifetime winners here from 630 runners, earning £3.2m in prize money and boasting a very resepectable "in the frame" strike rate of 32%. In the Coventry at 4.25 he runs the impressive Goodwood winner Lanark, who looks overpriced at around 33-1 this morning, especially if the usual blistering early pace collapses in the closing stages and his proven stamina kicks in.
13th June 2013 Saeed Bin Suroor has been in superb form in the past fortnight, with a number of highly regarded newcomers winning impressively, and he has a fantastic record when sending horses north to Nottingham. He has trained 49 winners from just 139 runners here, boasting an "in the frame" strike rate of 60% and showing a level stake profit of £29.45 at SP. In the opener at 2.00 this afternoon, he introduces a costly son of Acclamation in Chord Chart, who has attracted warm early cash and will surely be very hard to beat against largely exposed rivals.
12th June 2013 Chris Wall has an excellent record at Yarmouth, winning 48 races from 290 runners and holding an "in the frame" strike rate of 38%. A £1 on every runner would have made a profit of £21.86 at SP, and in a trappy handicap at 4.10 he runs the promising maiden Oh So Sassy, who seems very leniently treated on her debut in this sphere and will take a great deal of beating under Seb Sanders.
11th June 2013 Gary Moore has sent out 140 winners from 751 runners at his local track of Fontwell, winning £675,000 in prize money and boasting an "in the frame" strike rate of 48%. In the handicap at 3.15 this afternoon he runs the moody Lajidaal, who has slipped in the weights after sulking on all his recent starts, and could be the sort to be enlivened by a different headgear combination (blinkers and an eyeshield fitted).
10th June 2013 Veteran Seb Sanders has a superb record at the undulating course of Brighton, winning 121 race from 565 rides. His "in the frame" strike rate is a superb 46% and a profit of £41.49 has been made by backing all of his runners here at SP. In the handicap at 5.15 he is booked to ride Volcanic Dust, who shaped as though about to hit top form at Bath last time out and now looks very well treated after enduring a long time in the wilderness.
7th June 2013 A £1 at SP on all of Andrew Baldings 271 runners at Bath has yielded a profit of £23.71, with 44 winners so far and prize money earnings of £254,000. His "in the frame" strike rate is an impressive 44%, and the course winner Top Cop looks to hold outstanding claims in the 3.35. He has cut little ice in top handicaps of late, but has ideal conditions today and might be able to pick off the trailblaing favourite Fair Value in the closing stages.
6th June 2013 Veteran Seb Sanders has a superb record at the undulating course of Brighton, winning 120 race from 564 rides. His "in the frame" strike rate is 46% and he is booked to ride Langley Vale in the 2.30 this afternoon, who seems certain to go very close after shaping well when third over five furlongs here last time out.
5th June 2013 Paul Nicholls record at Newton Abbot is remarkable even by his very high standards. He has trained 104 winners here from 341 runners, earning £633,000 in prize money and boasts an "in the frame" strike rate of 58%. A £1 level stake at SP on all his runners has yielded a profit of £71.30, and the unexposed Aikideau looks an interesting runner off topweight in a winnable handicap at 4.50 this afternoon.
4th June 2013 Tim Easterby tops the trainers table at Ripon with 70 winners from 846 runners, and prize money earnings of £586,000. His "in the frame" strike rate is a respectable 30%, and the unexposed Toms Anna can improve that record in a wide open sprint handicap at 4.00 this afternoon. She showed excellent pace when going off far too hard on her debut in this sphere, and a drop down in trip looks ideal from a low draw.
3rd June 2013 Jamie Spencer has a good record at Leicester, where the long straight and wide open spaces presumably mean his finessing, hold-up riding style is seen to best effect. He has ridden 55 winners from 272 runners here, earning £324,000 in prize money for connections and boasts an "in the frame" strike rate of 47%. In a weak maiden at 4.45 he is booked for the class dropping Annas Pearl, who looks banker material after being very highly tried without success recently.
2nd June 2013 Lucy Wadham has a superb record around the tight Fakenham circuit, winning 26 races from 109 runners and boasting an "in the frame" rate of 60%. A £1 at SP on all of them would have made a profit of £36.13, and her course specialist The Black Baron has excellent claims to improve that in the handicap at 3.30
31st May 2013 Kieren Fallon has a superb record at the very tricky undulating Epsom course, winning 44 races from 188 rides here and earning £3.3m in prize money for connections. His "in the frame" strike rate is 40%, and a £1 level stake on every mount would have made a profit of £34.78. In the opening Group 3 at 1.35, he is booked to ride John Dunlop's globetrotting Beautrice Aurore, who looks sure to go close under ideal circumstances.
30th May 2013 Seb Sanders is now in the twilight of his career, but his record at the undulating seaside course of Brighton is an excellent one. He has ridden 120 winners here from 562 rides, earning £489,000 in prize money and boasts an "in the frame" strike rate of 46%. In the maiden at 3.30 this afternoon, he is booked to ride John Hills' Watcheroftheskies, who looks sure to go very close if able to reproduce the best of his juvenile efforts.
29th May 2013 Gary Moore tops the trainers table at Fontwell, with 140 winners from 749 runners and prize money earnings of £675,000. His "in the frame" strike rate is an excellent 49%, and the unexposed Dr Thistle looks an interesting runner in the novice handicap at 3.40 this afternoon. He rather sulked in a first time visor when fourth of five here last time out, but could improve for the experience and fast ground could also see him in a different light.
28th May 2013 Richard Hannon's record at Leicester has stood the test of time, with 67 winners from 426 runners here and prize money earnings of £446,000. His "in the frame" strike rate is a useful 42%, and the Windsor maiden winner Pivotal Movement looks well handicapped on his seasonal reappearance in the handicap at 3.00 this afternoon. At around 5-1 this morning, he appeals as a good each-way investment with Richard Hughes booked and few credible rivals to the hot favourite Pythagorean.
27th May 2013 Donald McCain sits on top of the Cartmel trainers table, with 26 winners from 98 runners and an "in the frame" strike rate of 56% at the unique Cumbrian track. In the handicap at 3.05 this afternoon he runs the consistent Storming Gale, who will relish the quickening ground and looks a solid each-way option in a race where few can be given a chance.
24th May 2013 Chris Wall is the trainer to follow at Yarmouth, with an "in the frame" strike rate of 38% and prize money earnings of just under £200,000. For a small yard, his tally of 45 winners from 282 runners is excellent, and a £1 on all of these at SP shows a profit of £15. In the handicap at 3.20, he introduces Newmarket maiden winner Bassara after a 335 day absence, and this lightly raced filly looks very well treated against far more exposed rivals.
23rd May 2013 Mark Johnston has a superb record at Goodwood, with £1 on every one of his 501 runners at the Sussex track yielding a profit of £95.60. He has trained 72 winners here and boasts an excellent "in the frame" strike rate of 35%, and the consistent course winner Tartan Jura looks a solid each-way option in the handicap at 4.20. He raced lazily on fast ground at Doncaster last time, but is the sort to bounce back quickly and had been running with credit through the winter on the all-weather.
22nd May 2013 Jockey Noel Fehily has an excellent record at Huntingdon, with £1 placed on every one of his 205 rides here showing a profit of £103.17. He has booted home 39 winners at this speed course with an "in the frame" strike rate of 40%, and he is booked to ride the progressive Kilrush in the 4.10. The 7-y-o was quite impressive off a fast pace at Worcester last time out, and should be able to defy a penalty over a longer trip that promises to suit.
21st May 2013 Tim Easterby is the leading trainer at Newcastle with 81 winners from 801 runners and prize money earnings of £682,000. His "in the frame" strike rate is a respectable 32% here, and his recent intake Arc Light looks a cracking each-way bet in the handicap at 4.30 this afternoon. The ex-Godolphin 5-y-o has made steady progress since joining this yard, pulling too hard when fourth over course and distance last time out, and should be spot on to peak in a race lacking strength in depth.
20th May 2013 A £1 level stake at SP on all of Bryan Smart's 305 runners at Redcar would have made a remarkable profit of £95.41, with 44 winners and an "in the frame" strike rate of 34%. In a tight handicap at 4.10 this afternoon he runs Verinico, who slipped in the weights dramatically during a poor season for the stable in 2012, and can be expected to go very well if primed after 109 days off (tongue tie/visor on and talented 5lb claimer Willie Twiston-Davies up).
17th May 2013 Richard Hannon dominates Newbury with 145 winners at the Berkshire venue from 1455 runners. He has earnt £2.6m in prize money and has an "in the frame" strike rate of a respectable 28%. In the opening juvenile at 1.30 he introduces the very highly touted newcomer Championship, who has been the subject of rave reports at home and will surely be very hard to beat judged by the early market confidence.
16th May 2013 "King Kieren" is the leading jockey on the Knavesmire and has been riding back at the top of his powers in the past few weeks. He has partnered 80 winners here from 499 rides, earning £3.3m in prize money and boasts an "in the frame" strike rate of an excellent 39%. In the Group 2 Dante at 2.45 he is booked for the classy Greatwood, who is expected to reverse form with Newmarket conqueror Windhoek and take this valuable prize before heading to Epsom for the Derby.
15th May 2013 Richard Fahey is the leading trainer at York, with 86 winners from 895 runners and over £2m in prize money earnings. His "in the frame" strike rate is 28% and Farlow looks primed to improve that in the handicap at 2.15. The 5-y-o has cut little ice in two ninth placed runs for his new yard, but there was a great deal more encouragement last time than the bare result and it is likely he has been laid out for this valuable prize .
14th May 2013 Mark Johnston's record at Beverley is a remarkable one. From 513 runners he has trained 117 winners, earnt £724,000 in prize money and has an "in the frame" strike rate of 53%. A £1 at SP on every runner here would have made a profit of £67.85, and the consistent maiden Conversing looks sure to be very hard to beat switched to the turf in a weak handicap at 4.40 this afternoon.
13th May 2013 A £1 level stake at SP on all of Dandy Nicholls runners at Musselburgh would have yielded a profit of £39.83.  He has trained 61 winners here, earning £388,000 in prize money and boasts a decent "in the frame" strike rate of 37%. In a weak maiden at 4.15 he runs the experienced Queen Flush, who can bounce back from a poor run on handicap debut last time out in these much calmer waters.
12th May 2013 Gary Moore leads the way at Plumpton with 107 winners from 567 runners here, boasting an "in the frame" strike rate of 51% as he has earnt £525,000 in prize money. In the opening novice hurdle he runs Amen, who has been very disappointing since arriving from Ireland but is surely capable of better with the faster ground sure to see him in a better light dropped in grade.
10th May 2013 A £1 level stake on all of Nigel Twiston-Davies 138 runners at Market Rasen would have made a remarkable profit of just under £50 at SP. He has trained 34 winners here, earning 268,000 in prize money and boasts an "in the frame" strike rate of 49%., and that can be improved upon by D´Gigi in the handicap at 4.40 this afternoon. He shaped well on his debut for these new, in form connections when second at Towcester and can now go one better under ideal conditions.
9th May 2013 Popular Liverpool based rider Franny Norton is the man to follow at the sharp Chester track, with 63 winners here from 469 rides and prize money earnings of 823,000. His in the frame strike rate is a useful 34%, and the unexposed Cawett Cove looks an interesting runner in the handicap at 5.00 this afternoon. A good draw in stall 5 means a positive ride is likely, and he hinted strongly when third last time out that his turn is near.
8th May 2013 Richard Fahey heads the Chester trainers table with 46 winners from 352 runners here and prize money earnings of £760,000. His in the frame strike rate is 41% and the race fit Gabrial the Master is sure to go very well from an ideal draw in the handicap at 5.00 this afternoon.
7th May 2013 Jamie Spencer tops the jockeys table at Yarmouth with 92 career winners from 473 rides at the seaside venue. He has earnt £396,000 in prize money over the years while maintaining an "in the frame" strike rate of 47%, and it looks a big clue that the astute David Brown yard have booked him on Burning Dawn for the handicap at 4.20 this afternoon. The 3-y-o shaped with promise on all three starts as a juvenile despite obvious inexperience, and looks well treated if ready to go after 231 days on the sidelines.
6th May 2013 Richard Hannon tops the trainers table at Windsor, recently notching his 200th winner at the Berkshire venue from 1360 runners. His prize money earnings now top £1.3m and an "in the frame" strike rate of 40% highlights his expertise at placing his horses in the right races. Sea Shanty landed a touch on his handicap/seasonal debut over this course and distance 14 days ago, and he looks maximum bet material in a bid to follow up in the 4.35.
5th May 2013 Mark Johnston has an excellent record at Hamilton, with 116 winners from 554 runners, prize money earnings of £911,000 and an "in the frame" strike rate of 48%. In a decent maiden at 4.35, he runs the once-raced Maputo after 350 days on the sidelines, who looks sure to go very close after finishing a promising second on his juvenile debut (form has worked out well and might be a cut above these).
3rd May 2013 David Nicholls has made a great start to the new turf season and his record at Musselburgh stands the closest inspection. He has sent out 61 winners from 431 runners here, has an "in the frame" strike rate of 37%, and a £1 level stake on all his horses shows a profit of £40.83. In the handicap at 5.05 he runs toppweight West Leake Hare, who shaped well under a negative ride at Catterick first time out, and is sure to improve with son Adrian now in the saddle.
2nd May 2013 A £1 level stake (at SP) on all 303 Bryan Smart runners at Redcar over the years would have made a remarkable profit of £97.41. In the handicap at 5.35 this afternoon he runs the hooded Armada Bay, who looks overpriced at around 14-1 this morning. The 3-y-o ran a bit better than the bare form at Catterick last time out, and has decent each-way claims if returning to his placed form on the all-weather a few months earlier.
1st May 2013 Mark Johnston has an excellent record with this Southern raiders at Ascot, topping the table with 79 winners here and prize money earnings of £2.1m. His "in the frame" strike rate is a respectable 32%, and the classy stayer Sir Graham Wade is sure to strip fitter for his recent seasonal debut in the Group 3 Sagaro Stakes at 3.35 this afternoon.
30th April 2013 Sir Michael Stoute is the leading trainer at Yarmouth, with 54 winners at the seaside venue from 212 runners and prize money earnings of £325,000. His "in the frame" strike rate is 52% and the unexposed Claim looks sure to go very close in the handicap at 3.10. He has sent out 84 winners here from 305 runners, earning £439,000 in prize money and holding an "in the frame" strike rate of 60%. In the opening novice hurdle at 2.20 he runs his recent intake Jimmy the Hat, who is sure to strip fitter for a pipe opener at Clonmel and will appreciate the better ground here.
24th April 2013 A £1 level stake on all of Andrew Balding's 156 lifetime runners at Epsom have yielded a profit of £39, and his "in the frame" strike rate is an excellent 44%. He can add to his 25 winners here in the Great Metropolitan handicap at 2.50 this afternoon, where the consistent Beyond Conceit looks sure to go close after running well on his seasonal appearance.
23rd April 2013 Rebecca Curtis has an extraordinary record at Ffos Las, winning 49 races from just 179 runners here and boasting an "in the frame" strike rate of 60%. In the bumper at 4.45 she introduces the well regarded newcomer Audacious Plan, who is sure to go very close especially if the market speaks loudly in his favour near the off.
22nd April 2013 Mark Johnston has an excellent record at Pontefract, sending out 65 winners from 448 runners here and holding an "in the frame" strike rate of 42%. He runs the quietly improving Blue Wave in the handicap at 2.40 this afternoon, who appears leniently treated after going up 1lb for a game victory at Kempton last time up.
21st April 2013 Tim Easterby has sent out 81 winners at Newcastle, earning £682,000 in prize money and boasting an "in the frame" strike rate of 32%. In the handicap at 4.20 he runs the progressive One for Luck, who has improved for faster ground and can defy an 8lb rise in the weights under Dougie Costello.
19th April 2013 Jim Goldie has sent out 135 winners from 1437 runners at his local course of Ayr, and traditionally targets the Scottish National meeting. He has Jonny Delta entered for the handicap hurdle at 1.40, who looks sure to be very hard to beat after impressing over this course and distance last time up with Denis O'Regan in the saddle.
18th April 2013 Nobody rides Newmarket better than Richard Hughes, and the champion jockey is top of the table here after 110 winners from 757 rides. He has an "in the frame" strike rate of 39% with prize money earnings of £3.2m, so a bold showing from Angels will Fall in the Group 3 Abernant (3.30) looks very likely from a high draw. The stands rail was strongly favoured yesterday, and it would be no surprise to see Hughes grab pole position from the off on this classy sprinter.
16th April 2013 Phillip Hobbs is the man to follow at Exeter. The "master trainer" has an in the frame strike rate of 48% here, with 136 career winners and prize money earnings of over £900,000. In a warm looking bumper at 5.20 he introduces Boogie in the Barn, and a positive market move would be a huge clue he was fit and readied with Richard Johnson in the saddle.
15th April 2013 Tim Easterby tops the trainers table at Newcastle with 81 winners from 789 runners, boasting a decent "in the frame" strike rate of 32% while he has earnt £682,000 in prize money. 14th April 2013 Jonjo O'Neill has an excellent record at Market Rasen with 82 winners from 494 runner here, and an "in the frame" strike rate of 42%. He sends out Beckhani in the handicap hurdle at 3.35, who was well backed over course and distance last time out and shapes as though capable of better from his current mark (quicker ground may see him in a different light).
12th April 2013 Sue Smith tops the trainers table at Wetherby with 82 winners from 578 runners here, boasting an "in the frame" strike rate of 37% as she has amassed £696,000 in prize money. 9th April 2013 Sue Smith, fresh from triumph in the Grand National, is the lady to follow at Carlisle. From 363 runners here, she has trained 55 winners and earnt £413,000 in prize money. An "in the frame" strike rate of 42% can be improved up by Alta Rock in the 2.20 this afternoon, who will relish the fast ground and can go close if getting a positive ride from Timmy Murphy, over a trip that is a bare minimum for him.
8th April 2013 Nicky Richards is the man to follow at Kelso, with 70 winners from 328 runners here and prize money earnings of £409,000. His "in the frame" strike rate is an excellent 43%, and he has good claims of improving that with Streams of Whiskey in the handicap at 5.00 this afternoon. The 6-y-o was an impressive winner over course and distance earlier in the season, and has been freshened up by a 96 day absence since running a flat race when eigth last time up.
5th April 2013 A £1 level stake at SP on all of Jonjo O'Neill's 252 runners at Aintree would have yielded a £35 profit (40 winners and a 36% in the frame strike rate). He runs the classy Get Me out of Here in the handicap at 4.50, who appears a shade overpriced at 20-1 this morning, with quicker ground hopefully prompting a revival in his fortunes after a rare poor effort at the Festival three weeks ago.
4th April 2013 The Champ A.P.McCoy tops the Aintree jockeys table, with 54 lifetime winners from 336 rides and an "in the frame" strike rate of 43%. He has earnt £2.8m in prize money for connections over the years, and is booked to ride Vasco du Roncerey in the 2.00 this afternoon. The 4-y-o shaped well when fifth in the Triumph hurdle, and this flat speed course may play more to his strengths than some of his market rivals.
3rd April 2013 Richie McGrath is the leading jumps jockey at Wetherby, with 45 career winners here and prize money earnings of £346,000. His "in the frame" strike rate is a respectable 32%, and he can improve that on board the unexposed Doyentherighthing at 2.40 this afternoon. The 5-y-o has shown ability in deep ground through the winter, and didn't get the chance to show what he can do in handicaps when unseating early on last time up.
2nd April 2013 Phillip Hobbs tops the trainers table at Exeter with 136 winners from 692 runners. He has an "in the frame" strike rate of 48% with prize money earnings of £905,000, and his progressive novice Lord Protector looks very interesting on his handicap debut at 2.40 this afternoon.
1st April 2013 Nicky Henderson has a superb record at Huntingdon with 62% of his runners here finishing "in the frame". He sends out Springinherstep for the novice hurdle at 2.40 this afternoon, sure to be fresh and well after 144 days away from the action and receiving weight from her penalised main market rival.
31st March 2013 Gary Moore is the man to follow at his local course of Plumpton. He has trained 107 winners from 554 runners here, with a £1 level stake profit of £57 from backing every horse he sends out. In the handicap chase at 3.00 he runs the temperamental Lajidaal, who has excellent claims if on a "going-day" under Jamie Moore.
28th March 2013 Evan Williams is the man to follow at his local track of Ffos Las. He has sent out 325 runners here, with 45 winners to date and prize money earnings of £257,000. His "in the frame" strike rate is a useful 38% and topweight Firebird Flyer can enhance that in the 3.25 this afternoon. Lumping 11-12 in this ground is never easy, but he ran well when second at Uttoxeter last time and has the talented 3lb claimer Adam Wedge in the saddle to do the steering.
27th March 2013 Sue Smith is the leading trainer at Wetherby with 82 winners from 568 runners so far. She has an "in the frame" strike rate of 36%, and the quirky but talented Rebel Swing can boost that in the handicap at 4.30 this afternoon.
26th March 2013 Backing trainer Brendan Powell at Fontwell to a £1 level stake at SP has yielded a £52 profit, and he is represented in the 2.40 this afternoon by One for the Boss. He has a chunk to find on the figures with Sustainability, but is open to a bit of improvement and this mornings offer of around 12-1 looks a shade over the odds.
25th March 2013 No jockey has earnt more from Lingfield all-weather racing than Eddie Ahern, with prize money of £1.3m as he has ridden 216 winners from 1669 rides. His "in the frame" strike rate is 38%, and he is on the prolific winner Valdaw in a very winnable handicap at 3.10.
24th March 2013 Richard Johnson is the leading jockey at Wincanton, with 72 winners from 383 runners here and prize money earnings of £589,000. His "in the frame" strike rate is an excellent 49%, and he is on board Petroupetrov in the handicap chase at 3.25 this afternoon. A fair hurdler when on song, he has a new headgear combination for this return to the larger obstacles and appears leniently treated if finding a rhythm over the fences.
22nd March 2013 Nicky Henderson, fresh from a superb week at the Festival, is the man to follow at Newbury. He has trained 130 winners here from 685 runners, earning £1.9m in prize money. In a wide open handicap at 5.30 this afternoon he runs the unexposed Union de Cheret, who has shown more than a hint of ability in three qualifying runs and would be very interesting if the cash arrived later on.
