Free Six Nations Predictions & Betting Tips

Outside of the Rugby World Cup, the Six Nations Rugby Championship is one of the largest rugby events in the world. Ireland was a favourite last year and they managed to win the championship. France is now back on top of the list but there is a small difference in odds between them and Ireland.

2024 Six Nations Predictions

The 2024 tournament will be the 25th iteration of the annual Rugby Union tournament, known also as one of the most popular rugby competitions worldwide. It traditionally hosts the six best European Rugby nations, including England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales.

The Six Nations tournament is the successor to the Home Nations Championship which was contested between England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. It was held between 1883-1909 and 1932–1939. France joined in to make it the Five Nations Championship (1910–31 and 1947–99). But with the inclusion of Italy, we came to the format of six teams that we know today.

It is also a perfect opportunity for established stars and new talent to shine like Alex Dombrandt, Keith Earls, Freddie Steward, Peter O’Mahony, Andy Christie, Johnny Sexton, Paul Willemse, Joe Schmidt, Jamie Ritchie, Sam Simmonds, Finn Russell, Cameron Woki, Antoine Dupont, Rory Darge, Kieran Crowley and Romain Ntamack, Dan Biggar, and Michele Lamaro.

The tournament is one of the most-watched events all over the world, in Rugby right after the World Cup, making betting opportunities a highly sought commodity. With our help, you can gather Six Nations predictions for the upcoming matches or provide your own.

When is the 2024 Six Nations Tournament Played?

The Six Nations tournament is an annual competition with a very long tradition. Including all the previous incarnations, this is going to be the 129th edition of the competition. This year’s tournament will start on 4 February 2024 and go all the way till 18 March 2024.

The first matches will be between Wales vs Ireland and England vs Scotland. Principality Stadium Cardiff is the first location where the tournament will start. It will be very interesting to watch the first games and see who will become the player of the tournament.

Which Teams are Competing in the 2024 Six Nations Tournament?

This closed international rugby tournament was originally played between England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, then called the Home Nations Championship. France was the first nation to join, to make it five, and the current format was locked with Italy coming to the fold.

If we look at the modern history of the Six Nations tournament, from the year 2000 onward, England is the most successful nation with seven titles. The last one they won was in 2020. The second best nation is Wales, with six titles to their name including the one in last year’s tournament. France won 5 and Ireland won four titles, while both Scotland and Italy are the only nations without a win.

The Dragons are the most successful team when it comes to Grand Slams, as they have won four of them since 2000, winning the last one under Wayne Pivac as a head coach. Les Bleus follow with three, while England and Ireland have two apiece.

However, when it comes to Triple Crowns, both Dragons, the Lions, and the Shamrocks have five each. Wales, Ireland, and England are the most successful nations as one of the three teams has won the title in the last 11 seasons, which should be greatly considered when making your Six Nations picks.

2024 Six Nations Odds and Favourites

Les Bleus will try to win the title once again but they are actually not the favourites this year. Coach Fabien Galthie’s men are a crew of all-star talent, which could spell victory for Les Bleus. The exciting France team will also have the opportunity to play two home games this year.

Both England and Ireland are the teams that should pose the most problems for France. England’s prospects are tied to their newest teen sensation Marcus Smith and the leadership of head coach Eddie Jones. The youngster has already won a Gallagher Premiership title as well as the British and Irish Lions tour in his career. He has recently added a match-winning kick against South Africa for his nation to his tally of successes. Tom Curry is the likely choice for the new England captain as old captain Owen Farrell is out of SN with an injury. Will England bounce back as the Six Nations predictions say or will Ireland take the title as a favourite?

Do not count out the Irish and their head coach Andy Farrell. They enter the 2024 Six Nations tournament with a lot of buzz being the best country at the moment according to the world rankings. Additionally, the provincial teams of Leinster, Ulster, Munster, and Connacht all qualified for the round of 16 of the Heineken Champions Cup where the majority of Irish players come from.

Wales is currently in the 9th spot of the world rankings but they don’t have a big chance to reach the Champions Cup. They are always struggling with injuries and a week before the tournament they had more than 15 injured players. Some of them include Louis Rees-Zammit, Sam Parry, Will Rowlands, Gareth Anscombe, Samson Lee, Josh Navidi, Max Llewellyn, Dan Lydiate, Owen Watkin, etc.

Scotland does have an outside chance, but Gregor Townsend’s men will need to pull of several upsets to go all the way this year it should be a tough outing for everyone on any given day.

Six Nations Table

Prior to 2017, the competition had a standard points system used by most Rugby tournaments. A win counts as two points, a draw is one, while a loss means zero points. However, in 2017 the Committee introduced a bonus system, which changed the scoring system.

From 2017, a win counts as four points, a draw is two points, a loss is a nill, scoring four or more tries is one, and one point for losing by seven points or less. Additionally, Grand Slam winners will receive three extra points.

Six Nations Locations

The Six Nations format involves six teams playing each other once, totalling 15 games a year or five games per team. Due to this type of format, home-field advantage alternates each year. Use the home advantage for your predictions.

The venues for the 2024 competition will include:

England, London – Twickenham Stadium
France, Saint – Denis – Stade de France
Ireland, Dublin – Aviva Stadium
Italy, Rome – Stadio Olimpico
Scotland, Edinburgh – Murrayfield Stadium
Wales, Cardiff – Principality Stadium
