Italian domestic football has been dragged through the mud over the last decade or so now it is slowly but surely beginning to restore pride and dignity to a passionate football country.

Since Juventus were acrimoniously stripped of their title and demoted in 2005 Inter have dominated the domestic scene in Italy. That looks set to continue this season but the chasing pack are closing in on the Nerazzurri.

Inter to make it five in a row?

Unsurprisingly there is little to get excited about in the Serie A betting for the title. Inter are the short priced favourites at around the 1/3 mark whilst their nearest rivals AC Milan and Juventus are both available at 9/2 across the board. The top 3 finish market is also dominated by those same three sides and I couldn’t advise anyone to look any further afield at this stage of the season.

Relegation

The bookies seem to think that it will be three from five that will fill up the relegation places at the end of the season. Siena and Catania are both as short as 4/6 to go down whilst Livorno and Atalanta are both available at 5/6, Bolgona at 11/4 make up the quintet of teams who are predicted to be in for a long hard season.

However, one of the Serie A picks which must be worth consideration is backing Lazio to be relegated at 5/1. They haven’t won in their last six Serie A games now, including a 1-0 derby defeat against arch rivals Roma. A back on one of the betting exchanges could prove to be a tasty trading opportunity.

Top Goalscorer

Roma’s Francesco Totti is an ever present fixture toward the top of the Serie A goal scoring charts and he is once again right in the mix with nine form his first ten games of the season. He has won this accolade in the past and at around 9/2 he is one of my best Serie A tips of the season.
