FRANCE -18 TO BEAT ITALY

France lost several times in 2011, to England, Tonga, New Zealand (twice) and to Italy. They also lost the World Cup Final in New Zealand's backyard to the hosts by just one point.

New coach Saint-Andre is reported to focus on professionalism, and wants to concentrate less on French flair. However, the humiliation in the Italian defeat can not be easily forgotten. France's final 2011 Six-Nation fixture, a thumping of Wales in Paris, did restor some pride. However, France have a score to settle against the Azzuri and are expected to win convincingly.

Italy are without lock Pavanello, and coach Brunel will be worrying how to move Italy on to the next level in this tournament. At home, Italy have become a force, but on their travels they managed to concede 59 points to England and 21 points to Scotland in 2011.

France are expected to start the 2012 tournament in style and overcome an 18 point handicap.
