WATFORD TO WIN AT 2.2

The defeat to Tottenham last Friday may be a turning-point on Watford's season. They earned the plaudits by out-playing the high-flying Premiership side, to lose to a long-range effort by van der Vaart.

Midweek Watford went to Millwall and won 2-0, so the momentum might be building. Actually, prior to Spurs, Watford had beaten Doncaster and Bradford (FA Cup) at Vicarage Road scoring four goals each time, and had only narrowly lost to a late Reading goal in a 2-1 defeat.

Barnsley have lost five of their last eight Championship matches, and Watford can add to that. Mariappa staying with the Hornets has sent exactly the right message around the home dressing room, because Premiership interest could easily have tempted him away.
