SPORTING TO WIN BY 2 OR MORE GOALS

This weekend in Portugal, League Cup will be played. Sporting are in a not so easy position to go through next phase. The club from Lisbon hosts they're group leaders, Gil Vicente, after allowing two draws to the other teams in the group and so being drawn in points with Rio Ave, both 2. In order to go through next phase, Sporting needs not only to win, but also, if Rio Ave manage to win to Moreirense too, to score more goals than Rio Ave so they can have the goal difference advantage in case of having the same number of points.

This Sporting team is goinf through a bad phase, but they have very good players and surely a good coach, who took Braga to the final of Europa League last season. The team is lacking consistency and missed Rinaudo a lot. He has been injured but is now returning to the team, possibly directly to the starting 11. Wolfswinkel is also making his return after being injured and so will Izmailov. Jeffren in suffering from muscular problems once again and will miss this match, but all of those returns should compensate the loss of the young Spanish player.

Gil Vicente is a team who can make huge surprises at home, where they have stopped Porto and Benfica already this season, but away from Barcelos, they usually can't perform so well and they have recorded a 6-1 loss a few months ago in Alvalade, where they are going to play this final round of the group stage of the Portuguese League Cup.

Gil Vicente doesn't have a good record playing in Lisbon and I certainly don't expect it to start this weekend. Sporting are a way stronger team and one that needs to score a lot and suffer little in order to assure the qualification to the semi finals. That should be motivation enough for this team playing in they're own stadium.

Sporting are having financial problems but what comes out is that the players are united and determined to turn this bad phase around and get the club back to the top.
