Blackburn Rovers host fellow strugglers QPR at Ewood Park on Saturday with just three points separating the sides at the wrong end of the table.
Manager Steve Kean's Blackburn defeated by Arsenal at the Emirates last weekend. The loss leaves Blackburn second-bottom of the Premier League with 18 points, 3 behind QPR. Last weekend at Emirates Blackburn were 3-1 down at half-time, but the dismissal of defender Gael Givet for a two-footed lunge on Robin van Persie swung the match even further in Arsenal's favour, and they piled on another four goals after the break to complete an huge victory.
QPR, who were beaten 2-1 by Wolves on Saturday in a match that also swung on a sending off. New signing Bobby Zamora put QPR ahead after 16 minutes, but when fellow the other new arrival Djibril Cisse was given his marching orders after an altercation with Roger Johnson, QPR were always going to struggle to keep Wolves out. Second-half goals helped Wolves climb out of the relegation zone and draw level with 16th-placed QPR on goal difference.
As well as the suspended Gael Givet, Blackburn are likely to be without Michel Salgado, who is still nursing a rib injury, Also big problem to Steve Kean, that defender Christopher Samba has been ruled out with a hamstring problem last weekend. Mark Hughes''s team will be without the ever-reliable Luke Young who has a hamstring which means that Nedum Onuoha is likely to move to right-back. Fitz Hall – very poor ability player – coming into the centre of defence to partner Anton Ferdinand, and Djibrill Cisse's three-match suspension adding to his woes.
I think it will be an open match. The two teams comittied beside the victory. Just the three point is acceptable them. Argument beside the more goals is striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni is set to make his return after a three-match suspension. He is hungry for goals, like Bobby Zamora, Jay Bothroyd and Akos Buzsaky whom also welcome back after injury. The Rovers have the worst defence, and this section will be miss Gael Givet and Christopher Samba – two basic player back. Big disadvantage is for him. I think it will be at least three goals.
