WIGAN +2 TO BEAT ARSENAL
Final result: 1 - 2Profit: 16.00 - 8 = 8
Monday Night Football provides Arsenal with the opportunity to get a firm grip on 3rd position and cement their qualification for next seasons Champions League. Their opponents are Wigan who are fighting for survival and the form book points to a comfortable home win with many predicting a landslide. However, I don't see it that way...
We all know the form Arsenal have show in recent weeks, especially at home with 7 consecutive victories and only 1 defeat from their last 12 which has catapulted them from 6th position into 3rd and they now look nailed on for at least a top 4 finish with Tottenham, Chelsea & Newcastle in a 3 way battle for the final qualifying position for next seasons Champions League. Overall this season, despite another disappointing run on the road Arsenal have been formidable at the Emirates with just 2 defeats from 16 and just 12 goals conceeded all season, so they will strongly fancy their chances of improving that return when Wigan come to town on Monday night
Wigan on the other hand have spent another season at the wrong end of the table with just 4 wins from 16 on the road and managing just 16 goals, conceeding 32 so I can see why many feel this has only one result on the horizon. However, you have to look at the recent form of Wigan which has been in stark contrast to their early and mid season form. Wigan have only lost 2 of their last 10 fixtures and their recent victory over Man Utd was most impressive. They look like a team with real momentum who could well avoid the drop after looking doomed only a few months ago when they lost 6 matches from 7 and drew 1 in a horrible run of results that left them seemingly isolated at the bottom of the table
I'm not going to predict an away win here but I do feel this game will be a lot tighter than many believe and I see great value in backing Wigan +2 to get a win here, as I believe that they can frustrate Arsenal for long periods of the game and wouldn't be surprised if there's a low scoring first half which will give us a strong chance of picking up a winning bet here. I also feel Wigan are capable of scoring as they've done so in their last 6 games and in their last 8 away games which included visits to Chelsea, Tottenham & Liverpool so why not here at the Emirates?
Another reason for this selection is that goal difference could prove the deciding factor when determining the relegated teams and currently Wigan are 3 goals better off than their nearest opponents Bolton so even if Wigan are loosing this game late on I don't see them throwing caution to the wind and risking a big defeat as ultimately that could prove fatal. Arsenal already have a significant goal difference advatange over their nearest 3 challengers so won't be pushing forward recklessly in search of a big win if it means risking Wigan countering and denying them the 3 points, which at this stage of the season is all that matters to them so don't be shocked to see the game peetering out late on if Arsenal hold a slender advantage
Overall, I predict a tight game here and Wigan are more than capable of at least frustrating Arsenal for long spells and scoring themselves at some stage. With a 2 goal head start they have every chance
Wigan +2 is my pick here... Good Luck

Games a little open for my liking.. Wigan need to get a breather as Arsenal are pushing hard now.. 1-2 at this stage very acceptable though and Wigan still look dangerous on the counter attack
