If I was a generous bookmaker, I might offer you 4/5 or possibly, around Christmas time, 9/10 about Roberta Vinci winning this game. Roberta Vinci is World Ranked #19 and the number 1 seed for this Estoril Open. Her opponent is World Ranked #34 and the 6th seed here.

And yet, for some reason, the bookmakers have priced Kanepi up as favourite with only Stan James offering 9/10 the pair.

It's true Vinci has laboured a little in earlier rounds, taking 3 sets to dispose of unseeded Russian Bratchikova in the first round and again was taken to a deciding set in her last game in the quarter finals against another Russian, 7th seed Petrova. I'd prefer a player coming into a match battle-hardened and not complacent than a player who has cruised through the rounds and not faced a stern examination.

Kaia Kanepi will be no pushover and is definitely a player in the ascendency. She also knows how to close games out as she proved when winning the Brisbane International at the start of the year. In that tournament, she came through two tough and close 3-setters before trounching Daniela Hantuchova in the final 6-2 6-1.

I think this will be another three setter and think Vinci is too big a price to ignore. But I am also tempted to back that the match will go the distance so I am going to split stakes between over 21.5 games which is available at 8/11 and 3-sets @ 5/4.
