TOTTENHAM TO BEAT VILLA
Final result: 1 - 1Profit: 0.00 - 7 = -7
We now have just 2 games to go until the conclusion of the season and both of these teams badly need a result here for very different reasons
Villa have slid down the table in recent weeks and now lay only 3 points above the dreaded relegation zone so could be doing with the 3 points here. Tottenham meanwhile have a golden opportunity to take control of 3rd position following Arsenal dropping points at home to Norwich and with the possability of 4th now not being good enough for Champions League football next season (If Chelsea win the Champions League) we are sure to see Totenham also fully focused on leaving Villa Park with 3 points
Villa for me have been one of the poorest teams to watch all season and the negativity of manager Mc Leish has bordered on being criminal at times. 4 home wins all season and just 19 goals has left the Villa Park faithful frustrated and whilst I think they'll just about manage to stay up I don't feel they'll be able to live with a resurgent and highly motivated Tottenham side on Sunday. Villa go into this fixture with just 2 wins from their last 15 fixtures and lost tamely to Tottenham alredy this season 2-0 without putting up a serious fight
Tottenham endured a torrid run in recent months but they have won their last two and the confirmation that manager Redknapp is now set to stay should provide some much needed stability to the players and staff again as it was bound to have effected them mentally in recent months. The incentive to reclaim 3rd position from their greatest rivals Arsenal is also major motivation for them
It's important to note that this season Tottenham have played 5 of the bottom 6 teams away form home and have won 4 of those games with their only defeat coming recently away to QPR during their dip in form. On the flip side of that Aston Villa haven't beaten any team higher than 9th on home soil and have only managed 2 draws from their games at home to the top 8 teams, so they're clearly out of their depth against a team like Tottenham
Head to head recently also heavily favours Tottenham as they haven't lost to Villa in their last 6 meetings and have won 4 of those including 2 of their last 3 visits to Villa Park and with the current status of the table providing Tottenham with the opportunity to really take a firm grip of 3rd I see no reason to doubt their ability to win this game
The indiscipline from some of the Villa players during the week also points to an unhappy camp and this doesn't bode well for the Villa at all as partying and fighting outside a night club only a few days before such a big fixture isn't a good sign at all and if they fall behind early in this game the home supporters will be on their backs big time
To sum up for me there's 3 main reasons why Spurs will win here:
1. Managers position has finally been resolved
2. Tottenham simply are a class above this current Villa team
3. Opportunity to reclaim 3rd place with just 1 remaining game is too big an opportunity to pass up
Tottenham to win is my choice here and I'm also putting a small stake on them to do so by a clear 2 goal margin
Good Luck
