For the first time Myanmar have a team in the AFC Cup, since they were upgraded from the AFC President's Cup. They did, however, not need to qualify for the group stage thanks to unusual circumstances. Liaoning Whowin withdrew and Persipura where disqualified.

Yangon coach Eric Williams should not be ashamed of their results in the AFC Cup, considering it's the first time ever. They have lost all their away games, but are still unbeaten at home after two games, drawing both.

Guests Citizen AA are, just like Yangon, out of the competition. However, they still play for results and points for upcoming rankings, which is very important in the AFC rankings, more important than in other competitions. They have 6 straight losses away but I don't think it's too much to bring attention to, since the opposition has been extremely tough. They have faced excellent home team Pegasus two games, who have won all of their home games this season and two games at Kitchee who are topping the Hong Kong league. The other two losses have been in the AFC Cup, away at Singapore team Home United by 3-1 (same result as Yangon got there) and a tight 1-0 loss away at Thai team Chonburi, which is a good result.

Now, the opposition is not the same, Yangon is not as good a team as the other teams they have faced. Before all the tough away games, Citizen had 8 straight away games without loss, and I think they can perform here. They should be the better team here, the only thing that speaks against them is the climate. Citizen coach said his players can face a problem with the early start time in a hot country like Myanamar. Hong Kong is not as hot and they play later in the evening to avoid this kind of hot temperature.

One big factor in this game is the players that will be able to play. Citizen will play their best team and miss no players, they have no injuries and no suspensions. Yangon on the other hand are missing very important players. Their big foreign players Ristic and Jovanovich are injured and they actually have three defenders suspended in Nikola Karchev, Aung Thaik and Yaza Win Thein.

A weak team like Yangon won't have reserves that are good enough to face one of the better Hong Kong teams. I think Yangon's first ever home win in the AFC Cup will have to wait. My pick here Citizen AA (draw no bet) at odds 2.00.
