NUNO HENRIQUES @ 9/2 TO BEAT NICK DOUGHERTY AND SAM HUTSBY

Final result: 0 - 1
Profit: 0.00 - 2 = -2

The Madeira Islands' Open gets underway tomorrow morning and, according to the weather channel at least, the weather is set fair with only light winds (10-12mph) for the weekend. That only has to change by +10mph (every chance on the coast line) and it becomesa different game altogether.

I have covered my selections and analysis in my other tips, so this section will concentrate on the 1st Day's three-balls.

Phillip Price @ 6/4 to beat Darren Fichardt and Federico Colombo. All this year's form points to a match between Price and Fichardt. Price is one of my picks for the tournament, played well this year in european mainland events, two-time winner of Portugese Open. Fichardt has been consistent and was high on the leaderboard for most of last week at the Spanish Open. Price will do for me at 6/4.

Matthew Baldwin @ 11/8 to beat Tommy Fleetwood and Daniel Denison. Baldwin has placed high in last week's Open De Espana and previously at the China Open so will be full of confidence coming into this week. He could post a top-10 this week in this field. Fleetwood is actually the higher ranked player and had a big pay day in 2011, but game not as tuned as Baldwin's so far this year. Denison's best finish came in Morocco so can play in wind, needs to bring A game here to trouble Baldwin.

Daniel Vancsik @ 11/4 to beat Bradley Dredge and Seve Benson. This is a bit of a "gut feel" punt. Bradley Dredge is a big fancy this week, as he's a past winner of this event, holds the event round score record, and is a class act in this field. But his form just isn't great so you have to trust the environment will rekindle his game. Sve benson is another outsider pick because of his heroics last year and winner of Kenyan Open this year. Bt Cancsik is no back number, he's won two tour titles including Italian Open in 2009 and finished 8th in Portugal Open in 2010. His record in this event is pretty awful, but he definitely has the ability to beat his partners over 18 holes, and at the price is worth a punt.

Nuno Henriques @ 9/2 to beat Nick Dougherty and Sam Hutsby. This is either going to go down as an inspired pick or bomb like a three-legged greyhound wearing a blindfold running in the Derby. Here's my rationale: Dougherty, once a darling of the English game, is back on the challenger tour and struggling there too. Sam Hutsby, also of the challenger tour, had a great Spanish Open and is the form pick of the trio. HOWEVER, Nuno is a Maderian. This is his home course. He is the club champion - or he was before departing for the states. He has some useful college golf form in the states. He played here as an amateur but failed to make cut on 4 occasions. But at 9/2 in a three horse race over 18 holes, his local knowledge and course craft have got to be worth a few strokes.

Markus Brier @ 11/8 to beat Carlos Del Moral and Robert Coles. Both Del Moral and Coles have good form at this course including in this event last year - but that's where the positives end. Coles was a consistently good player 2 years ago, but has achieved little since. Del Moral saves his best for the Spanish/Portugese tournaments. Marcus Brier - if he plays to his capacity - is going to be a contender this week and should account for these partners. He's got a great record here and showed he's coming into form at right time with a 7th place finish at last week's Spanish Open which was packed with the tour's best.

Nice tip! 1
