BAYERN TO BEAT CHELSEA

It's the climax of a fascinating season this Saturday as the surprise Champions League Finalists of Bayern Munich & Chelsea do battle to be crowned European Champions. Very few expected these two teams to progress past Real Madrid & Barcelona in their respective semi finals but they did and now one of them will be crowned kings of Europe come Saturday evening

Lets look at Bayern first and they have the distinct advantage of the game being played in their own stadium but offcourse that also increases the element of pressure and it also won't be like a traditional home game as they won't be benefited with a full stadium of home supporters as ticket allocation is based on a neutral venue basis, so Chelsea will be well represented and this in itself will be a strange environment for Bayern players and fans

This year Bayern have also been eclipsed domestically by Dortmund who managed to win the league and cup double in Germany and done so in some style last weekend with a thumping 5-2 win over Bayern which would've hurt the German superpower. However, for me this season has all been about the pursuit of Champions League glory for Bayern who have targeted this competition above all others, especially as the final was scheduled to be played in their stadium. They'll go onto win plenty more domestic league and cup titles but the Champions League title isn't available as often due to the domination of Spanish and English clubs in recent seasons and this season Bayern have shown their strong mentality with impressive victories over the likes of Man City & Real Madrid along their way to the showpiece final

As for Chelsea well the appointment of Matteo has totally transformed their flagging season and their transformation in form and results has been staggering. Winning the FA Cup and even more impressively beating defending champions Barcelona over 2 legs in the semi final (playing the largest part of the game in the Nou Camp with just 10 men) has returned the pride to a group of players that looked finished only a few months back and they now stand just 1 game away from landing the biggest club prize of them all and they certainly have a great chance

Chelsea's domestic form whilst finishing strong has seen them drop out of the top 4 in England for the first time in many years and their only route back into this competition next season is now to win it. They've struggled defensively this year even at home and their previously solid looking spine has certainly weakened this year which could be a problem against this strong looking Bayern attack

Suspensions will also play a big part in this final and whilst Bayern will be without Alaba, Badstuber & Gustavo I personally feel the 4 players absent for Chelsea are more significant as Terry, Ivanovic, Meireles & Ramieres severely weaken the Stamford Bridge club and whilst Torres and Drogba are both finishing the season strongly I think the loss of these 4 players – especially Ivanovic & Terry, could prove fatal for the English team and Bayern will look to expose these absentees

Overall I'm going to back the Germans to win the game inside the 90 minutes with 7 points and I'm also backing them to so so by at least a 2 goal margin with a smaller stake of 3 points to get value for money as I feel if they get in front they'll get plenty of space as Chelsea come forward and this should provide them with the opportunity to increase their lead and win by at least a 2 goal margin. I also feel Chelsea's defence is very poor and the backs to the wall heroics of the semi final are unlikely to be repeated in this fixture as they must come forward themselves to try and win the match and I feel the Germans will benefit from this

Bayern to win is my first choice and also to do so by at least 2 goals with a smaller stake
