BILLY MERRIOT TO WIN @ 5/2
Final result: 1 - 0Profit: 10.50 - 3 = 7.5
With the withdrawal of Joseph Mercer, this weak looking race looks to be between Montugeon and BILLY MERRIOT with preference for the latter at the prices available. I can't separate the two protagonists on ratings but at twice the odds, Billy Merriot has to be the value. He represents Paul Nicholls' yard and looked like a future winner before falling when not in contention on his last run. If he can put that behind him and reproduce his earlier form, he has a big chance in this race.
Alan King's yard are in decent form at present and his runner Monturgeon looks like the main danger in this race. Like the selection, he has been a little disappointing and has yet to win despite being consistent. He has often looked one pace in his races and found little off the bridle, so with a clear run Billy Merriot is expected to get past him when asked for his effort.
Parhelion has placed 2nd twice from three runs and should fight it out for minor honours again.
