CORK TO BEAT DROGHEDA
Final result: 1 - 1Profit: 0.00 - 5 = -5
We have a full set of fixtures on Monday night in the Eircom League and now that we've completed a dozen fixtures we're starting to get a clear picture of how the season will unfold as teams settle into their respective levels of:
Title Aspirations: Sligo, St Pats & Shamrock Rovers (despite a poor start will come good)
European Ambitions: Derry, Cork, Shelbourne & possibly Drogheda (but I doubt they'll sustain their early season form)
Relegation / No Mans Land: Monaghan, Dundalk, UCD, Bohemians & Bray
The categories above are how I see the season panning out and throughout the summer months I'll be posting regular tips of the games as the Irish season gathers momentum
For this set of matches I'm going for the following 4 bets:
Drogheda vs Cork: 5 Points away win @ 3.1 with Bwin – Drogheda have started impressively whilst Cork took a while to get going but I think these odds are generous for an away win as Cork are now finding their feet with just 1 defeat from their last 6 which was a narrow 0-1 to table topping Sligo. Drogheda meanwhile have only won 1 of their last 6 and I feel these 2 will pass each other in the table in the coming weeks
Monaghan vs Shamrock Rovers: 5 Points away win -1.75 @ 2.6 with Bet365 – Shamrock Rovers have had a stuttering start to their title defence and new manager Stephen Kenny is struggling to get to grips with a big club and high expectations. An away trip to rock bottom Monaghan is exactly what they need here though and I expect them to win this one by at least a 2 goal margin. Monaghan are struggling in the Premier Division with no home wins from 5 attempts and just 1 goal so the visit of the champions is unlikely to yield much joy
Shelbourne vs Bohemians: 5 Points home win @ 2 with William Hill – Shelbourne have had a solid return to the Premier Division and have already established a 7 point advantage over their arch rivals and next opponents Bohemians. Bohs have fallen from grace in recent years and will do well to finish above the relegation places this year. Shels have just 1 home defeat all season whilst Bohs have lost 4 of their 6 away trips and I fancy a home win here
St Pats vs Dundalk: 5 Points both teams to score @ 2.38 with William Hill – St Pats are potential title challengers this season and are looking a vastly improved team under new manager Liam Buckley. I can't envisage an upset here and a home win is highly probable but an away goal isn't out of the question here. Dundalk have played 6 away games and despite just 1 victory they have recorded 2 goals on each of their last 2 trips to Cork & Derry so seem to be attack minded in recent weeks. They've also scored twice on each of their last 3 away games with St Pats
Overall we need any 2 of these 4 bets to pull through to make us a small profit with 3 wins getting us a good return and 4 a very healthy one... Good Luck
