This Brussels Open is full of surprises. First, Bartoli was beated by Urszula Radwanska in a game full of break points. Second, the 19 years Belgian player Van Uytanck defeated Scheepers when she was losing 4-6 1-3.
But tomorrow, I hope that everything will go better. The first game that I am going to bet on is Kaia Kanepi vs Pironkova.
Here, in Portugal, 3 weeks ago, a saw every Kaia Kanepi’s game and she was superb. So so damn good o clay. Drop shot, backhand, forehand, slices.. Everytime she hit the ball, her opponents were in big danger. Vania King, Vinci, Cetkovska (who defeated last week Agnieska Radwanska number 3), they were all punished by Kaia Kanepi. She is current 25 on WTA ranking and from my point of view, she is one of the 5 best circuit clay players when there’s no top10 girls on a tournament. She is so powerfull! Today she won easily against Jovanovski with 6 aces (!!!) and 60% plus on both service and return games. She was (again) amazing, an took just 1h04 to beat her opponent by 6-2 6-2.
Her opponent, Pironkova, his a fragil player that this year isn’t having great results. She is current number 46 and in her last 4 clay tournaments she fall always in the 1st round against lower ranked opponents. But today she step up his game and beat Nadia Petrova (former number 3 in the world) and I have to say that in this clay season, Petrova show that his game is coming back soon.. She almost defeat last week Serena so she isn’t that bad right now. However, Pironkova eliminated her by expressives 6-3 6-2. Pironkova won 69% of her service game (85% first serve) and 48% return and Petrova was serving well, with 4 aces.

I liked the way that Pironkova played today but I really can’t she her doing that again. Kanepi isn’t the inconstant player that Petrova is and I think that Kanepi will win tomorrow and stay on the tournament.
