GERMANY TO BEAT PORTUGAL

Group B has my two tips to make the final in it – Germany & Holland and despite it being dubbed the 'Group of death' personally I believe these two will be much too strong for Portugal & Denmark and I feel this will be evident in the opening round of fixtures when they play the 2 weaker teams in the group and I'm backing both of my pre tournament picks to prevail with opening round victories

Holland vs Denmark:

For me this game is all about Holland and can they put down a marker in their opening fixture? Denmark will defend deep and attempt to frustrate their opponents with Holland being forced to make the running. I believe this is a dangerous tactic though and I can see trouble for the Danes in this game with Van Persie & Robben the likely chief contributors to an opening 3 points for the Dutch. Holland are also rock solid at the back haven conceded in only 4 of their 10 qualifying games but scoring in them all and at least 2 in 8 of those games & 3 or more in 5 of them so Holland are in fine form coming into this game and Denmark despite their impressive qualification are unlikely to upset the applecart here


Germany vs Portugal:

Arguably the tie of the group stages and a mouthwatering fixture so early in the tournament. However, whilst this may be a simplistic opinion I genuinely feel if German cope with Ronaldo then the game is there for them and no matter how talented the Real Madrid superstar is he isn't capable of winning this game on his own. The Germans showed in the last world cup that they now have a new team ready to compete for the big honours and will fancy their chances big time in this tournament. 10 wins from 10 in qualification can't be bad and for me Portugal are over rated and won't be capable of seriously troubling Germany in this opening fixture


Offcourse opening round fixtures can be unpredictable but with these two big guns due to meet in round 2 of fixtures both know they need to start with a win as a surprise defeat or even a draw will see 1 of them in serious qualification trouble. Therefore I feel the focus will be 100% from both and I believe both will record opening day wins
