Defending European Champions & World Cup winners Spain open up against Italy in their group and I'm backing the Spaniards to win this one

Spain lost their opening game in the last World Cup, before regaining their composure qualifying and going onto win the entire tournament but they'll be fearful of repeating that start this time around as the other teams in the group are stronger than their previous world cup opponents

I don't feel Spain will win the whole tournament this time around but don't envisage them struggling to qualify and an opening day win will provide them with a solid foundation to achieve this

Italy are once again in turmoil with yet more betting scandals and despite their more youthful & talented lineup I just don't see them having the capabilities to stiffle the world & european champions
