Germany take on Portugal in Group B this weekend and both teams will see this as an important game and I think it will be quite an open game with a good chance of being a high scoring game.

Germany will know that a victory against Portugal will set them up nicely for an easy qualification through the group stage and Portugal know that they have to beat one of the two big teams (Netherlands or Germany) to progress into the next round and both teams will have to come out and try and win this match.

In Qualification Germany had an excellent scoring record having scored 34 times in their 10 qualifying matches and with just 7 goals conceded look a very good prospect in this tournament. These goal stats mean that their games averaged 4.1 goals and that was only beaten by the Netherlands at 4.5 goals per game and Portugal with 4.13 goals per game.

Portugal didnt finish top of their qualifying group as they were beaten into 2nd place by Denmark but of their 8 games they won 5, drew 1 and lost 2. They scored a total of 21 goals but they also conceded 12 goals and I think they will struggle to stop the Germans from scoring in this match.

Both of the average goals per game stats are very high at 4.1 and 4.13 respectively and although some of these matches were against poorer opposition they were both very consistent in overachieving the 2.5 goal line and I think that even as these teams are now playing tougher opponents they will still be involved in high scoring matches and with a lot at stake for both teams I think they will be going all out to win this match and over 2.5 goals looks a very likely outcome and with odds around the evens mark there is some good value to be had.
