There's nothing quite like feeling your paws sink into the sloppy mud after a good rain downpour, but not all dogs manage to keep their graceful running stride in such conditions. I think Doncaster will be a fair bit softer than official overnight declared going and that could have quite a bearing on the outcome of the races there.

For instance, in his last race in heavy going, Grey Mirage Was a commanding winner at Sandown and a similar performance will see him go close here. He's up against Mawasem who ran green but was still able to win a Kempton maiden. Gold City was a solid performer in listed races last season and could have improved over the winter and be ready for this seasonal reappearance.
