UEFA Player of the Tournament - Cristiano Ronaldo

Hi guys, new here - pleased to meet you. Can anyone tell me how the "UEFA Player of the Tournament" is adjudicated? I had Robert Lewandndowski @ 20/1 as Top Goalscorer but that bet went east a long time ago. However, I also have CR7 from Bet365 from before the start as UEFA Player of the Tournament @ 16/1.... Look forward to your comments.

One more great game for Ronaldo, one goal (3rd overall) and again he was unlucky with that goalpost (also 3rd time on the EURO), plus couple more solid chances. All in all, if Bet365 offer again tomorrow this betting option, odds on Ronaldo will be reduced by half, at least.

O, I hope he will have 3 more games as you said Cicala7, since I also took these options: Final match: Germany vs Portugal & and final positions: 1st Germany, 2nd Portugal

I would say that CR7 was fantastic against Holland. In the other 2 games he missed some very good chances, especially against Denmark... but he has 3 games more to show his best ;)

Actually, it is not necessary at all to Portugal win the trophy and it has nothing to do with this bet. Chances of Ronaldo are great no matter of result for Portugal. 5 games for Ronaldo will be quite enough in my opinion and if they enter SF, he will have those 5 games. Furthermore, there is no player in any other team who was clearly by far best player of that team so far, like Ronaldo was in Portuguese team. Maybe, Gomez but it is clear that the typical attacker wont get this award. About Spain, I do not know what they have shown so special up to now to be so clear favourites as you said.

Germany could have easily gone home if Denmark had scored their chances, also Spain could have easily lost the match against Croatia... it's all open

Im not saying they have no chances, for me there just not the favorites and with teams like Spain, Germany, Italy, France, the chances for Portugal to win the Euro for me are not the right value for this bet to take (reasons explained in previous post).

why are u all so sure that Portugal has no chances to win Euro ???

Noticed I have not commented on the bet. On topic, I don't like this bet, because the only way for Ronaldo to become player of the tournament, portugal has to win the tournament in my opinion. Taking in account the chances for Portugal to win, I don't see value in these odds. History (of the Euro Champs) shows Player of the Tournament usually goes to a player who wins with his country. Iniesta for instance is my top contendor since Spain is clear favorites to win. Players like Pirlo or even Buffon for Italy, Ozil/Schweinsteiger for Germany, maybe Gerrard for England also have a shot for this award, depending on how far the country can come. For me, theres just to little value in a bet in this category and certainly not for Ronaldo.

In any case, if Cicala7 is right, then maybe even better since now there is no real danger that Ronaldo will miss the next game (if they win today and he earn yellow card again). Missed game in SF surely would reduce his chances to take this award. On the other hand, one more yellow card probably would not go in his favor since I think other players who are among top favourites for this award, does not have yellow cards. In any case, in my opinion these odds are worth a try.

Based on 2 yellow cards in 2 matches, players wont be suspended for the final, yes. But players can still be suspended for the half finals. If its true what you suggest, when yellow cards are cancelled before quarter finals, players can still receive 2 yellow cards, 1 in quarter finals and one in half finale, thus missing the final. Anyway, whatever the rule, players wont be suspended for the final when receiving 2 yellow cards in 2 matches.

I am not so sure about that. I've read an article some time ago that Platini had changed the rules before Euro 2012, because a lot of key players had to miss the champions league final due to suspension he decided to change a bit the rules and I believe the yellow cards are cancelled after the group stage.

@Cicala7, yellow cards are cancelled from half finals, not quarter finals. So players can be suspended for the half finals, not the final, when it comes to receiving 2 yellow cards in 2 matches.

I think, but I am not sure, that all the yellow cards from the group stage are cancelled before Quarter-Finals. I mean those who have only 1 yellow card in group stage, it's Ronaldo's case. Karagounis took 2 yellows and he will miss the game against Germany but Ronaldo's single yellow card will be cancelled.
