LONGFORD TO BEAT DERRY
Final result: 17 - 14Profit: 11.46 - 6 = 5.46
Very few teams have fallen away from the top table in Gaelic Football more than Derry who whilst only managing 1 All Ireland in 1993 were always a competitive side that on their day could mix it with the best. However, they're now an also ran who don't even command any genuine respect let alone fear amongst the better teams and whilst Longford aren't one of the better teams themselves home advantage could see them progress in this fixture
Derry were abysmal in their Ulster Championship exit to Donegal as they basically lay down and accepted a severe beating. They looked unfit, short of ideas and most worryingly... simply not interested. Rumours are circulating that players are missing training and the usual club divide within the county is now back in the spotlight once more, which could spell the end of the road for the current management team if they exit the All Ireland series at this early stage
Longford have already played 3 games at championship level with a win over Laois followed with a replay defeat at the hands of Wexford but they're a fit and hungry team and whilst they lack the quality to seriously compete at the highest level the fitness and determination they possess should be enough to see off a dispirited and unfit Derry team – especially as Longford have home advantage for this game
I'm reluctant to rule out Derry as their qualifiers record is excellent in recent seasons but for me they look like a squad going nowhere and a determined and fit home side should have too much for them
Longford to win is my pick here... Good Luck
