MURRAY TO LOOSE IN SEMI FINALS
Final result: 0 - 1Profit: 0.00 - 3 = -3
It's now time to switch our tennis focus to SW19 for Wimbeldon and the 3rd Grand Slam of the season. So far Djokovic has 1 to his name (Australian Open) and Nadal also has one ( French Open) with both finals being played against each other as these two continue to dominate the sport when the biggest tournaments come around
There's a few players that on their day can compete hard against these 2 – the obvious candidates to break their stranglehold are Federer (who can reclaim the world number spot if he wins here) Murray (big home support but not in good form) Tsonga (momentum player that can produce superb tennis but also very prone to lapses and more likely to loose to a lower ranked player than most of the top seeds) Berdych (a real dangerous player who is mentally strong & made the final here already) Del Potro (clearly talented enough to compete for Slams but serious question marks remain regarding his fitness) Ferrer ( road runner who never gives up but just doesn't have the firepower to seriously trouble the top players over best of 5 sets)
There's also a host of other players who can trouble the better players but wouldn't have genuine aspirations of lifting the title and are unlikely to progress past the last 16 or quarter final stages at the very best. These players include the likes of Isner, Raonic, Tipsarevic, Anderson & Tomic. Overall we're well set for a great couple of weeks of top class tennis with the weather hopefully not being a factor and here are my tournament predictions:
Winner: Novak Djokovic – 2.63 @ Stan James: The Serb finally got beat in a Grand Slam final against Nadal in France but I genuinely feel he was getting back into that match until the weather stopped play. Nadal had raced into a 2 set lead only for Novak to win the 3rd and break early in the 4th. Play was then suspended which totally broke the momentum of Djokovic and I believe Nadal was quite happy to get off the court at that stage. This surface suits him fine and he's the defending champion here too. He'll most likely meet Federer in the semi final which could be a great game but Djokovic looks good to me & if it's Nadal in the final I still feel he mentally is stronger and will prevail
Final: Djokovic vs Nadal – 2.7 @ Paddy Power: I've already backed Novak to win so obviously feel he'll make the final. I also don't see anyone apart from Djokovic being capable of stopping Rafa Nadal and the draw has been kind to the Spaniard with his 2 main battles likely to be Tsonga in the quarters and someone like Ferrer, Del Potro or if he can reignite his season Andy Murray in the semi's but I don't see any of these players denying Nadal a final place
Andy Murray to loose in semi finals – 3.5 @ Paddy Power: This is a little bit of a risky one as Murray's form is poor and he's a very tricky draw with likely matches with Ferrer, Raonic, Karlovic & Anderson on his horizon providing he disposes of former world number 3 Davydenko in his opening match. However, expectations are lower than previous years for Murray and this may be a help and enable him to quietly go about his business and with the draw he has been presented with and he certainly won't go into any of these games with complacency. I can't see him beating Nadal though who will be his likely semi final opponent so that's where I feel his run will end
That's my 3 tournament bets for this year... Good Luck
