Olympic Basketball qualifying tournament in Caracas, Venezuela.

The 12 competing teams are divided into 4 groups for the preliminary round (round robin format). The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals. The last-placed team in each group will be eliminated. A single-elimination tournament will then be held. The semifinal winners will qualify for the Olympics. The semifinal losers will play for the last Olympic qualifying berth.

A match from group D where we have Angola, New Zealand and the "Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia" to be politically correct for all the Greek citizens out there, although I believe they should have more important problems to solve than fighting against windmills ...

I thought so, for me neither. Let's move right away to the (FYR) Macedonian team. Bo McCalebb from Montepaschi Siena is a well-known name and he is member and leader of the team. Around him, we further have Antic, Todor Gecevski (former Zadar legend) and Samardziski as strong Centers respectively forwards. On the guard position besides McCalebb we will find Illievski including the brothers Stojanovski as valuable additions to a team which is clear favorite to get the first place in this group. This team went into the semi-finals of the last European Championships, where they occupied the 4th place. The team played two preparation matches in Venezuela already, losing both to the team from the Dominic Republic. But all what matters is still to come, so I don't rate those losses too much. To sum up. The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia should achieve an easy win over Angola, most likely expressed in double-digits. This team fights in every game, and they simply can't afford to take anyone lightly, that's why I believe that we will see a focused team from the beginning, avoiding any complications against a nothing more than 3rd class basketball team from Angola.
