JUSTIN ROSE TO WIN THE OPEN AT ODDS 34
Final result: 0 - 1Profit: 0.00 - 1 = -1
The players are beginning to grumble about the rough at Royal Lytham & St Annes. Apparently the grass is brutal (Darren Clarke) and unplayable (Tiger Woods) if you leave the fairway.
Perhaps it would be wise to look for the qualities that the winner must possess if he is going to emerge victorious on Sunday.
Driving accuracy is key, and Rose is competent at 34th in the rankings with over 65.3% of fairways hit. He also has a number 11 ranking for scrambling - something that any contender is going to have to do if restricted by the rough.
At 33/1 with BetVictor, Rose has tremendous talent but has suffered from a lack of belief. At 17, he was fearless as he stunned golf with his 4th place at the 1998 Open. Now, Rose is embedded in the World top-ten, and he may just start to show again just how composed and creative he can be on a golf course.
I have tipped him for a top-ten finish, because he is in great form. I also propose backing him for the Championship at odds of 34.
