Haider-Mauer in at home, but it doesn’t mean he is closer to win. Last year he lost in this round to Veic in 3 and it was just 2nd time he reached first round here in 2006 he has beaten unknown qualifier (Patriarca) in 3. Gulbis has played only once here before – in 2008 lost in the first round in 3 against Recourderc. This year maybe he is more focused as his skipped Los Angeles tournament where he is defending champion. What is very interesting – in 5 out of last 6 matches of Gulbis there was maximum number of sets reached (they only one was against Gorka Fraile – old nobody ranked 930 that time). I think that this will be real battle similar to today’s matches of Austrians - Fisher and Thiem (both ended in 3).
