DC United take on Columbus this weekend and I am going for the home victory.

DC united started the season a bit shaky and in their first 4 home games they won 1, drew 2 and lost 1 but since then they have won all 6 of their home games scoring 18 and conceding just 5 which is excellent form. In this excellent run they have beaten both New York who have the 3rd best record if you look at the entire MLS and Houston who have the 5th best record so they have beaten some good teams as well.

Their overall scoring record of 23 home goals is only beaten by San Jose and when you consider that most of these goals have been scored in their last 6 games they have every chance of scoring a lot of goals in this match.

Columbus have had a mixed season this year having lost some matches against the lower ranked tems and then the next week beating one of the top teams so they are quite hard to work out but if you look at the stats for each game they have very few attempts at goal and if you ignore the game they lost against Chicago who had a player sent off after 29 minutes where they had 9 shots on target as Chicago tired playing with 10 men they have averaged just 2 shots on target each game which is very low. They have been dominated in most matches in terms of possession and their 2 big victories away from home this season against Seattle and Kansas have been when they only had 39% and 32% possession repsectively so they do not have many chances in a match to score but defend well and disrupt the opposition to frustrate them but I think that against a very high scoing DC United team they will fail to stop them scoring in this match.

In summary DC United have been playing very well recently at home and are very prolific goal scorers and they should have enough against a Columbus team who will try to frustrate them but who have little chance of scoring themselves so Im going for DC United to win this match.
