CELTIC TO WIN

This game marks Celtic’s first competitive action of the season after a series of friendly matches that didn’t leave their fans too confident. Of the 5 matches they played this preseason, 3 matches were lost and only one ended in victory, but they will be judged from this point forward and a good result at home on Wednesday will go a long way to making this difficult season for Celtic a promising one.

All the talk in Scotland over the past few months has been aimed at the woes of Celtic’s big rivals Rangers liquidation. This has left a large void in the SPL and Celtic are expected to win all domestic honours without much a fight this year, this makes champions league participation hugely important from both a financial and competitive aspect. If there is no Champions League football then Celtic may begin to listen to offers for their big name players, feeling they can win the league comfortably with or without said players.

HJK are well into their season in Finland and sit 2nd in the table after 19 games on 33 points. They had an easy passage to this point in the Champions League qualifiers after taking apart Icelandic side KR Reykjavik 7-0 at home and 2-1 away. Their recent domestic form has not been up to the standard they expect though, winning only one of their last 5 games. They will be hoping they can catch a Celtic team not up to speed in their first competitive game and pull off an upset.

Celtic is large favourites for this game at home and is best priced for the win at 1.44, HJK are big outsiders at 9.81 and the draw is 4.79. An excellent price I have found however is Celtic to win to nil @ 2.7 which is great value in my opinion.
