Stepanek did his job fine in terms of my bet against Dolgopolov, it was the Ukrainian who completely was not there. For one very good point/rally he made two or 3 unforced errors. Anyway credit to Stepanek whose serve, slices and composure were top class. Del Potro is another class, but he has considered withdrawing from this event after his heroics at Olympics where he played epic match against Federer and won bronze against Djokovic. Surely it is some fatigue and after winning bronze it must have been some feat. Quite interesting is fact that Stepanek has lost here either in first or 3rd or 6th round in his starts. It seems that such win like yesterday lifts his confidence a lot. What is more Stepanek recent losses, including the one against Djokovic at Olympics were in 3 sets. With Del Potro unknown motivation I will go for his narrow win or even loss wouldn’t surprise me.
