I like the odds on Feyenoord here and would expect them a tad lower then this. But it is something that is always hard to judge at the beginning of a season.
On the home side we got a team that was achieving bad last season, and I am not expecting it to change this season. They get a lot of goals against and they didnt really seemed entirely happy with the coach. Financial problems should be solved first for this team before new investements will and can be made, resulting in barely an improvement of the team. Most proper players where sold before or during last season and all purchases didnt bring what was expected at that time. Ofcourse all this stuff is already a season ago, why cant it change? Well to start with the coach, I think he is a nice guy, but I dont think he will actually make a team a lot better. He doesnt strike as such a talker and I guess a young struggling team would need that, but ofcourse I dont know crap about that. The team doesnt seem to make a lot of improvements and they didnt make a good impression in the preseason. I am afraid that they will be concieding pretty easy just as last season, and have a hard time scoring, just as last season. But they will be playing at home, always a place that is hard to play. Ofcourse all this stuff is my opinion, anything can be different when the season start, those friendlies dont say much. But I got the feeling they would have fired the coach last season already if they had the money to do it, and if they would have the money to get someone else aswell.
Feyenoord on the other side lost several significant players like John Guidetti,
Otman Bakkal, Karim El Ahmadi and most recently Ron Vlaar. Feyenoord is also having financial problems but is managing to get out of it pretty well but dont have the money to invest yet. Lex Immers is one of the most important signings and Joris Mahtijssen will probably be added to the defensive line later, but that might still take some time. Why I like Feyenoord is because they are always a hard working team and they got a coach who got a good influence, they got no pressure, and they suprised me bigtime recently. Their defence seems to be standing and the team seems to be physically fit. They only played two friendlies in the preseason but played champions league qualifications against Dynamo Kiev that got away lucky in the last match that was played last tuesday. The only problem of Feyenoord at this moment is their offensive line. They got a lot of younger players and they are missing a real striker that can really score the goals. They are still hoping to rent Guidetti for another season but this is also not relevant for the next match.
The only thing that can give any problems here would be a lucky moment of Utrecht or Feyenoord failing to score for the second match in a row besides getting a lot of chances. I think the pressure will be a bit less for this game and Feyenoord should be walking away with this, probably relatively easy, but still only a small difference on the actual goal line. Feyenoord it is this sunday.
