Almagro and Berdych have crossed paths in the Australian Open this year and big Czech prevailed in epic 4 setter. The winner will play against Federer so apart from some ranking points here (Almagro is aiming at closing on top 10 and Berdych on top 5) there is unique opportunity to try himself against all-time greatest in great form by the way. Both had some patchy moments in their respective matches against American opponents. Both lost one set, but prevailed in 4 and in both cases the last set was stroll in the park. Both are very good servers (yes focused Almagro is holding his serve very well) and good defenders (yes Berdych despite being tall player is very mobile), so knowing that, both may chose to try to take a set (s) in Tie Break (both don’t have great records there. Should be fairly even up to some point with Berdych finally prevailing, but with his chocking ability when the match would come down to the wire I prefer to take totals.
