Being a fan of the Dallas Cowboys would have to be one of the hardest gigs in sport. What you get with Dallas is a team that looks great on paper and promises so much yet they seem to find new and unique ways every week to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. This week they will travel to Carolina to play the Panthers, a team that are also struggling, but for very different reasons.

Dallas came into the season with many tipping them to be contenders for the whole thing, they then started in week 1 with an away win over defending Super Bowl champions New York Giants and everyone started believing. Things then went horribly wrong for Americas team as they stuttered with a loss away to Seattle and then at home to Chicago. Their latest loss saw them dominate for the entire game before they choked missing a game winning 51 yard field goal as time expired at Baltimore. The facts are that Dallas are still one of the best defences in the league ranking number one against the pass and 2nd in total defence. They are also good on offence rating 6th overall which makes their predicament even more confusing. Something has gotta give for the Cowboys and this week could be a good chance to turn things around at a struggling Carolina.

The Panthers are not travelling too well at the moment having only won once from four attempts. They have only managed 10 points from their last 2 home games and that is down in part to the struggles of quarterback Cam Newton. The Carolina starter currently ranks near the bottom amongst NFC starters in yards and completion percentage he has also only produced 4 touchdown passes from his 5 games whilst he has been picked off 5 times. The Panthers have an imposing trio of running backs in DeAngelo Williams, Mike Tolbert and Jonathon Stewart and they have managed to combine for 570 yards, 10th best in the league. They will hope that their backs can produce against a tough Dallas run defence.

The Cowboys need this win bad and there is no reason why they can't get it against Carolina who are having huge problems on offence. The pick here is for the Cowboys to win and cover the small 1.5 point spread.
