Oil-rich Machester City have started Champions League where they left off last season, unimpressively. I believe it's time for them to get first win, and facing Ajax might help them to do that.
City were on the brink of a massive result in first group match, as they took 2-1 lead with 5 minutes to go in Madrid against Real. Miracle didn't happen, as Real still managed a 3-2 win, with Cristiano Ronaldo putting Real 3-2 up on last minute.
City themselves needed last minute goal against Dortmund Borussia at home, as Balotelli scored an injury time penalty for a 1-1 draw. As City struggled to fulfill expectations last season, they haven't done much better now.
Ajax Amsterdam, outsiders of the group, have not performed badly, but still have lost both group matches. 1-0 away in Dortmund and 4-1 at home to Real Madrid. Although they are a decent team, I expect City to take this match more seriously if they want to have a chance of qualifying from group stages this year.
City's matches are always interesting to watch for neutrals, as dramatic late comebacks(unforgettable match against QPR) have becoming their trademark, we could see something similiar happening on Wednesday also, as Ajax have enough quality to score, but as City have more quality, and should have more motivation, I see them winning this match, and odds 1.72 are worth taking, as by matchtime they will be lower.

I totally agree that Ajax, while good in Holland, aren't really Champions League material, especially in this group. They are far from their mid-90s golden-era. City will have to start proving themselves continentally, and this match will be great opportunity to do that. Thanks for commenting and I'll be looking forward to this match also, fortunately I can even watch it, as it's on local tv :)
I definitely can see City taking this and they need it. Ajax hasn't shown their international class they are far from what the champions from Germany, Spain and England have. So good luck and looking forward to this tie.
