Mertl ranked 199 holds a 12-5 record on challenger tour hard courts this season. His form has been upswinging lately as he had good tournament in Uzbekistan winning against Meffert, Jaziri and Lajovic before losing to Ignatik. Here in Germany two wins in straight sets against two solid players Chvojka and Viola showing he likes to play here on these hard courts.

Ram while ranked 94th hasn't had very successful season ending. He has a 9-7 record on ATP tour and 7-9 on challenger but hasn't had any big wins as he has lost to Ramos-Vinolas, Jaziri, Falla, Youzhny and Menendez all in straight sets. Here in first two rounds took wins against Olivetti(rank 218) and Krajinovic (rank 431). I think odds on Mertl are set too high and game isn't going to be as easy for Ram, possible three setter.
