This is the fourth time they play each other. If we take a look at h2h it might look strange to back Giraldo here, since Soeda won all three matches. But two of those matches were three seters, and all of them were played more than 3 years ago. I don't think Soeda is that much better player (honestly I firmly believe Giraldo is way better, but h2h makes some point...).
What encourages me to back Giraldo here are his previous results at this tournament. Last year he lost in the 2nd round to Almagro, but the year before he made it to the semifinals where he lost to David Ferrer. He started new season with a defeat in the first round of Brisbane, to Florian Mayer. It was a tight match according to the statistics, with only two break points allowed but unfortunately for him, both were lost by Giraldo.
Soeda is playing this tournament for the first time. He might feel a bit tired after playing in Chenai last week, and it was three days ago that he lost to Tipsarevic, easily in two sets.
The odds are good to try with Giraldo here, but medium stakes only...
