Belenenses to continue Home win streak
The Portuguese 2nd division leaders encounter 2nd placed Sporting II in what will be a tough encounter for the hosts. The bookies are offering odds of 1.78 on the basis that this could be the toughest home game yet.
The home side have a 100% home record of 9 straight wins and 12 going back to last season. They are keen to secure promotion to the top flight as quickly as possible after a chastening relegation in the 09/10 season. Promotion barring a complete melt down seems virtually guaranteed and to increase the gap on the chasing pack by a further 3 points is an opportunity not to be missed. The home side were unlucky to concede a 90th minute equaliser at Freamunde last time out in a pulsating 3-3 draw however the hosts were on form belying their lower status in the league.
Sporting II have drawn too many games lately and on closer inspection have only won once in 8 league games. losing two away games and drawing 5. Whilst getting a draw is the most they would expect here I think the home side who have conceded only once in 12 home games will keep it tight once the first goal goes in bearing in mind the goal fest in the last match. I would not be surprised to see a 1-0 here.
