I rate a better player the player from Uzbekistan. He made several decent results this season as reached in the quarterfinals at Sydney and Brisbane and second round at Australian Open winning all the matches he was the favorite.
The American on the other hand won 3 matches in the qualifications at this event but failed to impress this season losing a couple of matches he had more to say then did.
All in all Istomin won both past meetings, one in 4 sets at US Open in 2011 and one in 2 sets at Sydney in 2012 and should ad another one as is the more stable player from baseline.
