The La Liga title race has yet to be decided and so our expert Nathan Joyes has provided his Barcelona vs Mallorca Best Bet, team news, lineups and fixtures preview.

Nathan landed his Barcelona vs Celta Vigo best bet last weekend, as the hosts fought back bravely to win 4-3 in the 98th minute. Was that the moment that sealed the title? Time will tell, but there’s still work to do before anything is decided.

Mallorca arrive on the back of a dull 0-0 against Leganes, who will be hoping their hard work earlier in the campaign won’t be undone, and they can achieve a European spot come the end of May.

Let’s see how Nathan sees this one playing out.

Barcelona vs Mallorca Prediction: Visitors can stand firm

Spain, La Liga, Tuesday, April 22nd, 20:30 (UK)

Barcelona’s win against Celta Vigo was something else. From 1-0 up, to 3-1 down, to 4-3 winners, they showed every side of their game on Saturday afternoon. But in the end, they came out on top, and that’s the sign of champions.

However, there’s little time to reflect with Mallorca coming to town on Tuesday evening, before Hansi Flick will need to prepare for the Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid – but let’s focus on one game at a time here.

With six matches to go, Barcelona are four points clear at the top of the table. Yet with games against Real Madrid, Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao to come – as well as the Copa del Rey final and Champions League matches – anything can still happen.

Which is why Flick will be keen to win his home matches – especially against teams they have already beaten this season.

And one of those is Mallorca. Barcelona hammered them 5-1 in their own backyard in the reverse fixture – but it might not be that easy this time round.

Mallorca have only conceded 17 goals from their last 15 La Liga matches. On their travels, they’ve conceded just 19 from 15, and in their last five away games only once has a team scored two goals against them (Atletico Madrid).

Admittedly, Villarreal and Real Madrid have easily beaten Mallorca on their travels, but since their 2-0 defeat against Atletico, Mallorca have lost just two of their last 10 matches, conceding more than one goal just once.

Operating with a back three and wing-backs, that soon becomes a defensive five out of possession, Mallorca can be extremely difficult to break down. Barcelona struggled to break down Betis at home – as well as Leganes on the road – who both operated with a defensive five or six for long periods.

There’s no doubt it takes a brave man to back against Barcelona at present, but Celta Vigo showed at the weekend they can trouble Flick’s defence. With Real Madrid in the cup final to worry about in four days time, Flick may well look to protect some of his best players if they are winning the match in the final stages.

The market has underrated Mallorca’s defensive ability – when on their day, they can perform incredibly well as a unit. If they can frustrate Barcelona in the opening 30 minutes or so, their current +2 Asian Handicap price looks rather inviting.

They need as many point as possible to get a Europa League spot, and a point against Barcelona would be invaluable.

Barcelona vs Mallorca Injuries, Team News and Possible Lineups

Barcelona may well look to recall Dani Olmo and Lamine Yamal to the starting XI after they both came off the bench to either score or assist against Celta Vigo. Flick will have no choice but to rotate his side in the coming weeks, but he may have learned a valuable lesson on Saturday.

Raphinha’s brace was his 14th and 15th La Liga goals of the season – including nine assists – who has very much been their shining light all campaign. Expect him to cause Mallorca plenty of problems.

The visitors will be without right-back Pablo Maffeo and midfielder Daniel Rodriguez who picked up yellow cards against Leganes and are now suspended for this match. Whether Rodriguez, at the age of 36, would have started is another question.

Instead, we’re likely to see Antonio Sanchez and Morey Bauza come into the starting XI as Mallorca look to maintain their preferred 5-3-2 formation on the road.

Barcelona possible starting lineup:
Szczesny; Martin, Martinez, Cubarsi, Kounde, Olmo, de Jong, Pedri, Yamal, Raphinha, Lewandowski

Mallorca possible starting lineup:
Grief; Mojica, Copete, Raillo, Valjent, Bauza, Sanchez, Costa, Darder, Larin, Prats
