As I considered this fixture before looking at any prices, I thought Man Utd would win, go through and that the total would be under 2.5. 2 of these options are odds on and the other is odds against.

So why do I think it will go under the total?

Firstly, and most importantly, without Wayne Rooney, Man U are simply not the same team, as we saw at the weekend against Chelsea. They played well second half, yet without looking like they were going to score until the one fairly fortunate goal they did get.

Secondly, Bayern are strong defensively, having only conceded 10 in 9 CL games, and 27 in 29 Bundesliga games. I believe they will come out on Wednesday aiming to frustrate United and keep their lead.

Thirdly, United are also solid at the back, conceding the same 10 in 9 in the CL and 27 in 33 in the Prem. They also have their 2 key central defenders, Ferdinand and Vidic, back and fully fit.

Finally, the last 3 meetings between these 2 teams here at Old Trafford have produced a grand total of 3 goals between them.

The odds are set as they are due to the fact that these 2 teams normally tend towards over, but I believe that in this particular situation the under is more likely and yet is odds against.

Bet is 7 units on Man United/Bayern under 2.5 goals at 2.1.
