Fabio Capello have many problems with his squad before the upcoming games against Bulgaria(03.09) and Switzerland(07.09).Frank Lampard(Chelsea),John Terry(Chelsea) and Rio Ferdinand(Man Utd) are all out due to injuries,while Wayne Rooney(Man Utd) is visibly not in his best form.In addition,neither of his goalkeepers - Joe Hart (Man City),Scott Carson (West Brom) and Ben Foster (Birmingham) - looks good enough to give England the needed stability in defense.So,at first look it is expected,that the hosts may have some problems against Bulgaria in their opening game in Group G.In fact,I don't think so.I have some reasons to believe,that England will win this game with more than one goal.First - despite the lack of some important players,the hosts still looks solid in the midfield and in attack with players like Gareth Barry (Man City),James Milner (Man City),Michael Carrick (Man Utd),Darren Bent (Sunderland) and especially Steven Gerrard (Liverpool) and Jermain Defoe (Tottenham).Second - the visitors have some good players in attack,but their main problem is the lack of creative players in the midfield.The defense is also unstable,with only one player in a constantly good form - Stanislav Manolev(PSV),while in the heart of the defense,including the goalkeeper,it's a real mess.Third - the hosts didn't impress in their last friendly game against Hungary(2-1),but even then they found the needed spirit to win the match.This game is not a friendly,so I expect that England will show far better football.In fact,the home side have excellent results at home under Capello,as they managed to win all of their last five qualification games.Bulgaria,on the other hand,have big problems in their away games in the last couple of years,especially against Top teams like England.I have to notice,that the visitors were unable to win any of their last five visits,even against teams like Georgia(0-0) and Cyprus(1-4).
