Stage 14: Limoux to Foix

Stage 14

<< Stage 13
Stage 15 >>

When:  Sunday 15th July

Starting Point: Limoux

End Point: Foix

Distance: 191km

Type: High Mountains

Limoux - Foix, 191km

From the costal scenery back to the mountain scenes, Stage 14 heads to the Pyrenean series and that will demand the climbers to climb. There are only three chances left for the riders with climbing skills to get that advantage before they head over to Paris. This is the third high mountain route out of the five planned and this time there are three mountain passes to cover and surely the hard work has to come now or never.

Key factor

With only six stages left, Stage 14 will be critical for climbers to get themselves in a good spot and with a good time before heading back down the plain. The three mountain passes will play a big part and the steepness just get worse. They will be calling at Col du Portel at 601m high with a 5.3km climb, while after 126.5km, they face Port de Lers at 1517m high for a 11.4km climb and finally the 1375m high Mur de Peguere will see a 9.3km climb and the hardest climb with a 16% gradient. The favourites should be attack the high mountains at this stage.

Final Standing after the race in 2012 Tour de France's Stage 14.
