Saints Drew Brees

Thanksgiving might be favour the home teams as the turkey are serve close to home and not the road team. The Packers are to travel to Detroit while Sunday will see the Patriots facing off with the Eagles. Monday Night will see QB Drew Brees lead the Saints against the New York Giants.

Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers

First of the Thanksgiving football games in 2011, the Detroit Lions have something to thank for this season as the home team are not seen as strugglers. This season has seen the Lions won all of their 4 home games giving them a reputation of a solid team at Ford Field. A repeat of last year’s win over the defending champion, Packers, is very much on their minds, especially given Packer’s QB Aaron Rodgers the concussion in the 1st half. The Lions will show their strength in the running game and hope that they are able to show they are a playoff contender at the end of the game.

The Packers are going into this game as the only undefeated team in the NFL and what a thanksgiving it will be if they can historical equal the 10 winning streak wins platform which stands back in 1963. One man that probably didn’t remember much of this team is QB Aaron Rodger, the concussion he took really whip him into shape as thereafter, 16 unbeaten games, so there you have it, it all started at Ford Field. They will travel to Detroit without leading rusher James Starks as he is struggling with a knee injury. That might affect the game play on the ground when it comes to wearing the opponents so he will be a big miss. Never the less, Packers are favorites to win their 10th straight game.

Verdict: Odds on Packers to crave the Lions like a turkey.

Baltimore Ravens vs. San Francisco 49ers

The evening game on Thanksgiving day will see the Baltimore Ravens takes on the San Francisco 49ers at the M&T Stadium. Both teams are solid around but of course, the 49ers are the surprise package this season. They are on an eight winning streak and beating with ease over the Arizona Cardinals with 23-7 last weekend. The 49ers will test their offensive power against the 4th best defensive team in NFL, Baltimore Ravens, who also on a high with 7-3 record and beating the Cincinnati Bengals with a 31-24. They turn up a notch in their offensive game play and much will be apply on Thursday evening.

Verdict: A case of the better defense and that should win the game, Ravens can do just that.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. New England Patriots

Sunday match will get us going at the Lincoln Financial Field where the Eagles are to face the New England Patriots. The home team has seen some poor results in the past few weeks but going into Week 12, they are encourage with a win over the New York Giants 17-10 on the road. This should pump some confidence into the team and more so to running back LeSeaon McCoy picking up 113 yards. What troubles the Eagles most is QB Michael Vicks condition, he is doubtful to feature as he is struggling with a broken rib.

The Patriots won’t mind whether Vicks plays or not as their own, QB Tom Brady is their key to success and of course playoff bound. Their last two games have seen a positive and dominating Patriot who won big against both New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs, all scoring over 30s. Week 12 could see the Patriot staring into a tough opposition but not far away for their third consecutive win. They might have a strategy to contain Vicks but if he doesn’t play then all eyes is on how Tom Brady will perform, if that happens then the Patriots are favorites.

Verdicts: No Vicks but Brady, only one conclusion to this matchup, Patriots to win.

New Orleans Saints vs. New York Giants

Monday Night will see the Saints hosting the New York Giants at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The home team has a 7-3 record and 1st in the NFC south. After Week 7 big win over the Indianapolis Colts, they slipped to a defeat to the St. Louis Rams, but two consecutive wins over Tampa Bay Bucs and an OT win against the Atlanta Falcons sets up great confidence amongst the team. Surprisingly it wasn’t a TD nor a rush that won the OT but a John Kasay 26 field goal kick that did the trick. QB Drew Brees will seek his 31st straight game complete at least 20 passes but a little note is that the Saints was disappointing on the rushing with just 41 yards on 16 carries.

1st in the NFC East and with a 6-4 overall record, the New York Giants are going through a bit of a slump. Two straight defeats have outdone all their hard work and could be in for another tough matchup against the Saints on Monday. A win here will do them good as they will be taking on the Green Bay Packers in Week 13 so some bright sparks here could help the cause as they search for a playoff place. QB Eli Manning is doing what he can to lead the team to victory but he might need a bit more from his defensive teams. Both running back Ahmad Bradshaw and linebacker Michael Boley are looking doubtful to travel to New Orleans.

Verdict: Saints looking to rub salt in Giant’s wound. Home team to win this one.
